I love the name but i am worried it will not be very well socially received. Have you ever met one?

It just makes me want to roll my eyes tbh. The kind of name that's given for the benefit of the "cool", "different" parents and not the child who has to live with it. I'm not saying we all have to stick to the top 20 but there's a middle ground.

For reference, this is the comment I was responding to.

I know this is an old thread but this reply made me “roll my eyes”.

Not everyone gives their kid an unusual name to appear cool and edgy, some just like more unusual sounding names.
You sound very judgemental.
You can’t just assume you’ve got the parents worked out based on their child’s name.
I’ve got a mix of unusual and very traditional names with my kids, I’m not cool, or different, or edgy in any way.
I just picked the names I liked.

Jeez, some people really think they are better than everyone else.

I know an adult male Zeph, but in his case it’s a shortening of Joseph, if you wanted something more mainstream as an alternative

Nessaofbarry · 02/12/2019 18:40

I love it!! A welcome change from Leo/Alfie/Jack/Harry etc.

june2007 · 02/12/2019 18:38

Why not?

PlasticPatty · 02/12/2019 18:38

My grandad's car was a Zephyr, around 1959.

Beamur · 02/12/2019 18:37

I like it.
I know only one child called this, a boy maybe in his early teens.

iklboodolphrednosedreindeer · 02/12/2019 18:35

I'm singing Red Hot Chili Peppers now (not a bad thing).

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 02/12/2019 18:32

I met a little Zebedee...

AtillatheHun · 02/12/2019 18:31

Zeph is one of the characters from The Beach

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 02/12/2019 18:30

Wasn’t there a band called the zephyrs?

nitgel · 02/12/2019 18:29

A car driven by old teds

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 02/12/2019 18:28

Wind or car are the two things that come to mind.

Schwitters · 02/12/2019 18:26

I LOVE this name so much. I know a couple of Zephs but they are Zephaniah rather than Zephyr and I love both names. If you love it, go for it!

EmmaOvary · 02/12/2019 18:21

I like it! A lot.

Chickoletta · 02/12/2019 18:11

It’s a wind, not a name. I’d roll my eyes at this on a class list I’m afraid.

Davespecifico · 29/11/2019 21:23

If you go with this, make sure he’s brackets Zeph on the school register. That’ll make it less embarrassing for him.

I love it! Great as full name or Zeph as a diminutive.

SpotlessMind · 26/11/2019 21:17

I know a Zephyr. His parents are both very creative and cool, it works and really suits him

Hayls17 · 26/11/2019 21:12

I quite like it, haven’t come across it used as a name before. Reminds me of RHCP song.
