Don’t worry - I’m not an idiot, I’m not going to call my child this.

But does anyone else think it’s actually quite a nice name? I’d never heard of it before the obvious story, but hearing it on the news repeatedly over the last couple of weeks has made it grow on me Confused

Anyone else agree? Or is it just hormones clouding my judgement?

Not a good name to be associated with at the moment!

slipperywhensparticus · 20/11/2019 07:14

It's a lovely name such a shame it's in the news

I knew someone at university with the name (she pronounced it Ghee-len)

Bortusesmoustache · 20/11/2019 06:19

I had a friend with that name at school - she pronounced it with a very soft G, so somewhere between Shis-laine and Jis-laine, if that makes sense. I quite like it.

French and more like geese-lane.

diddlediddle · 20/11/2019 06:04

French isn't it?

KSxx · 19/11/2019 23:35

quite unique and it's lovely to see names I've never seen before

Is reminds me of giselda, which I’ve always thought of as a witch name

PrittSticky · 19/11/2019 23:32

It seems to be Elaine with a hard ‘g’ sound at the start (at least that’s how newsreaders pronounce it)

I've always liked it

Tillygetsit · 19/11/2019 23:29

I quite like it actually but it might be my hormones too!

KSxx · 19/11/2019 23:29

how is it pronounced?
