to all those saying I should call her Jemima no shortenings...yes I agree with you 100% , I love the name Jemima in full its just that I’ve always loved the name Mima but thought it would be better as a nn for Jemima!!
I am split towards Jemima & Georgie now! Just because Georgie Grey sounds so nice to me + not keen on the thought that people could call her Jem Hmm

@toomanydicksonthedancefloor1 no Jemima is on a pretty big downward trajectory so is getting more rare not more popular (see graph based on ONS data):

names.darkgreener.com/#jemima

I vote Jemima ❤️

Grufallosfriends · 19/11/2019 09:28

seems like there is a split opinion on Jemima* not sure if i like Jem as a nickname*...

Why not call her Jemima Hmm

Jemima is lovely and so easy to say!

PollyShelby · 19/11/2019 09:26

I like Jemima but not keen on Mima at all.

I like Georgie but it's very popular at my school, wouldn't bother me but I know some people don't like that.

dimdarkashian · 19/11/2019 09:18

Millie

MarthasGinYard · 19/11/2019 09:11

Mima is awful

mistermagpie · 19/11/2019 08:43

Jemima would be my pick but with Jem for short, Mima sounds a bit... wet? People seem obsessed with shortenings though, there is no need really.

IckleBear · 19/11/2019 08:35

But as Millie actually!

IckleBear · 19/11/2019 08:34

Milly Grey :)

CodenameVillanelle · 19/11/2019 08:08

You don't need a nickname. You could just call her jemima!

helpiamstressedbuthey · 19/11/2019 08:08

thank u for replies everyone!!
seems like there is a split opinion on JemimaHmm not sure if i like Jem as a nickname...
Still mulling over Georgie!!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 19/11/2019 07:58

Caramel78 · 19/11/2019 07:57

Georgie

MarthasGinYard · 19/11/2019 07:56

'middle name will be Grey after a family member and its set in stone.'

That made me chuckle Grin

Georgie

toomanydicksonthedancefloor1 · 19/11/2019 07:56

We pronounce Mima as my-mer

toomanydicksonthedancefloor1 · 19/11/2019 07:55

We have a Jemima and call her Mima, as does almost everyone we know. I love it. She's almost 4 now and we are just starting to meet other Mima's out and about, so it does seem to be getting more popular.

daisypond · 19/11/2019 07:48

I like Mima as a short form too.

groovergirl · 19/11/2019 07:44

Just want to add -- all the best for the birth or your darling one, and welcome to Mumsnet!

groovergirl · 19/11/2019 07:43

Don't tear your hair out, OP Sad. When you meet your baby, you will pick the right name from your list. You don't need to make your mind up right this minute!

Jemima Grey is lovely. If you like Gia, perhaps consider its full form, Giana, so that bubs can use the formal or the nickname as she likes. But I'm biased; I have a friend named Giana and just love the Italian elegance.

NameChange30 · 19/11/2019 07:41

I assumed Mime-a (or My-ma)
Like the last 2 syllables of Jemima

Grufallosfriends · 19/11/2019 07:38

Jemima is best.

But I don't like Mima. Is it Mee Ma?!

NameChange30 · 19/11/2019 07:37

Georgie is a nickname. (Also "Georgie, porgy, pudding and pie.")
Nothing wrong with using cutesy nicknames for babies but please use a proper name on the birth certificate so they have the option of a more adult name as they get older.
Georgia is lovely.

I also like Jemima, not a huge fan of the nickname Mima but as above no harm in it as long as it's Jemima on the bc.

Timetobegood · 19/11/2019 07:29

I like your names but Mima as a nickname is horrible.
