Jemima is lovely.

FizzyGreenWater · 23/11/2019 21:47

I'd go for Jemima.

MikeUniformMike · 23/11/2019 12:44

I used Fogg as I didn't think it was a real surname, and it seemed quite neutral.

helpiamstressedbuthey · 23/11/2019 12:18

And thank you for all the replies- you have made me love the name Jemima even more!

MikeUniformMike - you’re right, although the name Cartier does tickle my fancy...Wink
I’m pulling for Jemima Grey now, dh Georgie Grey. For those wondering, we don’t like any ‘full’ versions of Georgie.
And although Fogg is great surname it is not ours! Think F_s (if that makes sense, it has a similar ending to surname Jones- but anyway, Jemima and Georgie both sound good with it)!

Jemima.
I like Georgie but only as a NN.
Milly is ubiquitous. I'm not keen on Gia.

Grufallosfriends · 22/11/2019 14:29

Georgina and Jemima are both beautiful.

Georgia or Georgie are nice short forms but I really wouldn't shorten Jemima. Jem is a boys name imo and Mima sounds strange.

user1493494961 · 22/11/2019 14:18

Jemima, shortened to Jem if need be, much nicer than Mima. Georgie is nice as a shortening but needs a 'formal' name. She'll be an adult much longer than a cute child.

Leopardprintboots · 22/11/2019 11:25

Both names work fine with surname I just prefer the name Jemima Fogg x

MikeUniformMike · 22/11/2019 08:28

Let's assume OP's surname is Fogg, which it probably isn't.
Which sounds best:
Jemima Fogg
or Georgie Fogg?

Jossina · 22/11/2019 04:10

Jemima as it's the only real name.

Nonnymum · 21/11/2019 19:48

I'm not sure about Georgie as her full name. Could you give her a longer name so she has the option to use it when she's older but always use Georgie. I'm saying this as I know someone with a name that is normally a nickname and although it was fine when they were young they have hated it ever since they have been teenager (they are well into their 50s now) and wish their parents had called them the longer name.

daisypond · 21/11/2019 19:45

Jemima. Avoid anything that could be deemed “cute”. Cute is not a good thing.

misspiggy19 · 21/11/2019 19:24

Jemima

MikeUniformMike · 21/11/2019 19:20

Wait until you meet her - she might be a Plum or a Cartier when you see her.

helpiamstressedbuthey · 21/11/2019 19:03

surname begins with F and is one syllable and goes with both Jemima & Georgie for those wondering.
Still not sure...we will see I guess. DH is pulling for Georgie now, i am undecided! thanks for any help

Jemima.

MikeUniformMike · 21/11/2019 08:53

I like Georgia and Georgie, and Jemima.
You seem to be looking at nns not the full name.

Don't overthink the middle name, they aren't used in everyday life.
Most people go through life as Firstname Surname.
Use whichever one sounds best with your surname.

If your surname is someething like Jones, I wouldn't use Georgia or Jemima.

helpiamstressedbuthey · 20/11/2019 21:18

I can’t decide! One day its Jemima one day its Georgie!! Someone say something that will make me decide hahaSmile

Jemima
GG is a bit too horsey

diddlediddle · 19/11/2019 18:29

I vote for Georgie! Love a unisex type name for a girl and Georgie Grey sounds very cute and cool.

PsychosonicCindy · 19/11/2019 16:44

Jemima is lovely.
Georgie Grey does sound good but if grey is her middle name you're not likely to use it together much. (Only use my dcs middle names when they've been really naughty!)

CodenameVillanelle · 19/11/2019 16:39

Mima isn't a name though. It sounds like you're saying jemima in a cutesy fake baby voice. It's awful!

MissHenty · 19/11/2019 16:23

It’s hard to predict though @helpiamstressedbuthey

If you have a Georgie she might get called “G” or “George”. Do you mind that?

I personally prefer Jemima
