Need urgent help

We have an appointment at the registry office today and although we have decided the first name to be James we are still unsure on middle names. We are trying to chose between the following. Which do people like best

James edward
James theodore
James frederick
James matthias

Just got back and still couldn't decide so we went for 2 middle names, James Edward Matthias. Still thinking about Frederick though! Thanks everyone for your input.

Or Frederick, but I prefer Matthias.

I think Frederick goes best with a two syllable L surname. It’s also a bit more unusual that Edward. Ps my initials were JEL and I had no problems with it!

Theodore.

Matthias is nice but the -s ending not great with James. Frederick works very well but I just don't like it as much as Theodore. Edward combined with James is (sorry) rather boring, not to mention a bit Tank Engine-y.

JEL is not great and Edward is boring - cross off.

Matthias doesn't flow, too many ms. Cross off.

Theodore and Frederick are both great, and more interesting. I love Theodore but agree that Theo names are v trendy right now - so would go for Frederick.

I think Edward is more timeless, but have a soft spot for Theodore.

I think I would go for Theodore...because you already have a timeless first name

James Matthias is gorgeous and unexpected. Whilst James Edward is nice, it's a tad unexciting and I'm sure plenty of James's out there have Edward as a middle name, less so Matthias I imagine. Plus I just love an unexpected middle name
