Plum’s sister!

Help please! We chose a very unusual name for our first daughter (Plum Elizabeth) and now we’re stuck on what to name her sister. Our current list feels a bit pedestrian in comparison, does it matter?

We like:

Alice
Flora
Gaia
Cecily
Beatrix
Sylvie
Merryn
Iris (actually, I’ve always loved Isis, but it’s obviously unusable now)

and it’s surprisingly uncontroversial in real life.

Not that surprising - people are polite in real life.

On the other hand, they're brutally honest on anonymous online forums, and will say what they really think.

I think cucumber is a lovely name, unusual and underused but adorable in my opinion.

Hamandcrispsandwich · 18/11/2019 00:01

I taught a little girl called Prune a few years ago. She had a baby sister who was called Gala, which I think sounds nice.

ZeldaPrincessOfHyrule · 17/11/2019 23:57

I knew a Plum! It was a nickname (but not for Victoria, interestingly)

OctoberLovers · 17/11/2019 23:55

Peach

aHintOfPercy · 17/11/2019 23:54

Plum is a strange sound, it's dull and and flat, so perhaps jazz it up a bit with the next one. Maybe Hillaria or Astibille or something similar?

HUZZAH212 · 17/11/2019 23:53

Plum Sykes is called Victoria, its a sloane style nickname due to the Victoria plum fruit.

chocolatefudgecake17 · 17/11/2019 23:45

This cannot be serious. Please tell us you didn't call your daughter Plum?

I think the names

Edie
Willow
Darcey

Go really really nicely with Plum xx

SimplySteveRedux · 17/11/2019 23:40

Love Gaia from your list, and Iris.

AutumnRose1 · 17/11/2019 23:38

I do think of Plum Sykes but assume that’s not on her birth certificate!

It’s weird. If Plum is your DC official name then she will be quite pissed off later, but that’s not a reason to give another child a fruit name.

Slappadabass · 17/11/2019 23:35

Peaches
Sesame
Fleur
Effy
Cherry

shellysheridan · 17/11/2019 23:32

Clover
Paisley
Pansy

I think a two syllable name compliments it best

Stillabitemo · 17/11/2019 23:31

I think Merryn goes well with plum

MrsBertBibby · 17/11/2019 23:22

Cherry.

MollyHuaCha · 17/11/2019 23:18

Sorrel is too much like Sorry.

"What's your name?"

"Sorrel"

"I said, 'What's your name?' "

Toporama · 17/11/2019 23:09

Tansy
Kezia
Zilpha

clpsmum · 17/11/2019 23:07

Sorrel
Meadow
Haven
Echo
Birdie
Sable
Tandy

hypodermicnurdle · 17/11/2019 23:07

Sorrel is seriously cute.

Plum and Sorrel make a great pair!

LimeRedBanana · 17/11/2019 23:01

Plum Sykes' real name is Victoria.

I would be gutted to be called Plum, to have to introduce myself as Plum, etc. So that's always my benchmark when deciding on the relative merits of a name.

I don't think you can chose a lovely, classic name for DC2, as it could cause a huge amount of resentment.

SweetAsSpice · 17/11/2019 22:53

Peach.

And that’s not a piss take answer. It would go beautifully with a traditional middle name.
