Is this a good baby name?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MondeoFan · 16/11/2019 20:22

My dads name haha

I like it as it suits him and he's a very kind and nice person. In Xmas cards people always spell it Brain which is not so good

Kanga83 · 16/11/2019 20:20

I like Brían (Bree-an) but I hate Brian and Bryony (never met a nice owner of either names). However, all names are subjective and personal and if you love it, go for it.

LimeRedBanana · 16/11/2019 20:20

As others have said, way preferable to Archie, Alfie, et al.

There's a lot to be said for choosing a name that's not due a comeback yet.

I was given one. Desperately old lady, frumpy and out of fashion when I was given it in the 70s.

Now one of the top 10 names. And it's great not being yet another Jennifer, Karen, Nicola, etc, as so many others were called. Not that there's anything at all wrong with those names, but they just sound tired now.

Go for it!

HollyBollyBooBoo · 16/11/2019 20:16

Hideous

HitsAndMrs · 16/11/2019 20:16

Nooo. What about Ryan?

NoSauce · 16/11/2019 20:15

Yes why not? Or you could go with Colin, Alan, Dennis, Roy or Gordon?

EmpressLesbianInChair · 16/11/2019 20:14

Isn't Brian the yoni massager from Hull?

That was my first thought too but at least only MNers will have that connection!

Brian Cox pulls it off ok but then he is 51.

chipsandgin · 16/11/2019 20:08

Or Nigel, Gary maybe Kevin? He’d definitely be the only child in the playground with that name!

missmouse101 · 16/11/2019 20:06

Not keen, prefer Bryn.

DramaAlpaca · 16/11/2019 20:00

I know a 24 year old Brian. I don't mind it, at least it's not one of those cutesy names that are fashionable for boys at the moment.

Strangerthingshere · 16/11/2019 19:58

Lovely name, every Brian I know has been nice! An older name now though, popular in a certain generation.

diddlediddle · 16/11/2019 19:57

Grin good one OP

MikeUniformMike · 16/11/2019 19:56

Brian is fine.

As are names like Roger, Gary, Darren, Alan, Neil, Mark, Martin, Nigel...
Much better than all the OT names or Alfie, Albie, Archie type names.

AgentCooper · 16/11/2019 19:55

It could be due a comeback! Defo better than Gary.

It’s love when there’s a fada on it and it becomes Brían (Bree-an).

AfterSchoolWorry · 16/11/2019 19:55

No, it's not good.

BloggersBlog · 16/11/2019 19:55

Fine if you are giving birth to a balding, moustached 70 year old

MiniMum97 · 16/11/2019 19:54

And it's always spelt "brain" in emails. Used to drive a Brian I knew mad!

ElusiveOrangeTwirl · 16/11/2019 19:54

Better with a Y. Bryan looks nicer.

MiniMum97 · 16/11/2019 19:53

No definitely not.

TimeforanotherChange · 16/11/2019 19:50

No. It's either the snail from The Magic Roundabout or it is a middle aged bank manager from Slough who wears a vest under his polyester shirt.

Dollywilde · 16/11/2019 19:50

I hate it, but weirdly our top girls name is Bryony. Go figure.

Aposterhasnoname · 16/11/2019 19:48

No

doodlejump1980 · 16/11/2019 19:48

I married one. And he’s proper lovely.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 16/11/2019 19:48

Isn't Brian the yoni massager from Hull?

MsMustDoBetter · 16/11/2019 19:46

It's hideous.

Brian is married to Brenda.
