I prefer Bryan as I always mis-type Brian as Brain...I was at school with a few Brians and they were all lovely. If you like it, go for it! Your little DS will make it his own.

AlpacaGoodnight · 05/01/2020 20:47

Prefer Bryan

MissHenty · 17/11/2019 10:11

No I love unusual names but Brian has always made me think “Brain” ever since I was a little girl

No it's awful.

DennisSkinnersMolotov · 17/11/2019 05:49

When DS2 was born, sleep-deprived DH told many people he was called Brian. His name is Brodie.

areyouafraidofthedark · 16/11/2019 23:46

Just a simple no.

MrsNoMopp · 16/11/2019 23:38

Magic Roundabout names are great. Dougal, Zebedee, Florence, Dylan - and yes, Brian. What's not to like? There was a Mr McHenry, and Henry is also a nice name. To be fair, I probably wouldn't go for Ermintrude or Mr Rusty, though. In the original black and white series there were also children called Paul, Basil and Rosalie.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 16/11/2019 22:47

Its one of those names. It’s so awful that it’s adorable. Grin

ElleWoods93 · 16/11/2019 21:55

oh god

fruityconfusedhotdog · 16/11/2019 21:54

Yes! All the Brian's I know have been lovely.

PsychosonicCindy · 16/11/2019 21:42

Yes! I am a big big fan of these proper names to contrast with all the Arlos Alfies and other trendy names.
Brian a good honest solid name.
As is Colin Steve Barry Alan Jeffrey Bob etc

BigGlasses · 16/11/2019 21:35

I prefer Bryan which for some reason seems less dated , even though it is exactly the same name 😂

RiftGibbon · 16/11/2019 21:10

I can't not hear Marsha from Spaced say "Hullo Brian!" in her bizarre pseudo flirty way.

Thehouseintheforest · 16/11/2019 21:10

If it helps my fabulous step dad is Brian.. ok he is 84 .. and I always wondered who called a new baby Brian .. but go for it !!

user1493494961 · 16/11/2019 21:08

Brian is Chair of Neighbourhood Watch and has an allotment.

CountTessa · 16/11/2019 21:03

@Chipsandgin kindred spirits..

chipsandgin · 16/11/2019 20:54

@CountTessa 😂

“Wait till Biggus Dickus hears of this!“

OP, if you are serious you must watch Life of Brian, so many brilliant quotes & if you are to be a Mum of a Brian you definitely need to learn them!!

CountTessa · 16/11/2019 20:46

Only if he is going to be born at Xmas and is the Messiah.

AgeLikeWine · 16/11/2019 20:44

We know a 4 year old Brian, and he is a gorgeous wee dote, if you like it. Do it Smile

Hepsibar · 16/11/2019 20:40

Of course your baby will be gorgeous anyway, but for me "Brian" always conjurs up the snail in the Magic Roundabout. (google it)

If you're going to go for slightly cheesy and vintage name, what about Stanley or Sidney?

Xiaoxiong · 16/11/2019 20:26

I'd not be able to stop myself singing "a boy called Brian" and saying "he's not the messiah, he's a very naughty boy!!"
