Are any of these names chavvy?

Sorry for the goady title, I'll probably get flamed for using the term 'chavvy' but I just need to know if I'm setting my future child up for a lot of judgement. People do judge others for their names after all. So we have:

Summer
Lydia
Elise
Autumn
Aurelia

Not Chavvy but very popular. Lydia is a lovely name, I would give the nickname deedee

PlantPotting · 24/11/2019 11:36

What are your thoughts now OP @snoopsnoops

dancingunicorns123 · 24/11/2019 01:32

Summer, Autumn and Elise are IMO just because of the people I know with those names

TrickyKid · 23/11/2019 22:01

Summer and Autumn could be.

Hopingtobeamum · 23/11/2019 21:58

Summer makes me think of that awful thing Paul Hollywood had an affair with! 🙈

FizzyGreenWater · 23/11/2019 21:49

Yes call her Susan.

Susan Lisa.

CravingCheese · 21/11/2019 18:22

Summer
Lydia
Elise
Autumn
Aurelia

I don't think so. I adore Lydia (such a lovely name) but I rather dislike Autumn tbh.

LittleDoveLove · 19/11/2019 21:25

I agree with an earlier poster, Summer is borderline. Would depend on surname I think. The other aren't at all

LimeRedBanana · 18/11/2019 21:47

Longer names don't necessarily get shortened, especially if the owner doesn't like the shortenings.

My BF is a Susan who's never been known as Sue or Susie in her life.

I can imagine an Aurelia being shortened to Rey.

TatianaLarina · 18/11/2019 16:51

I know two Rebeccas actually.

Lavenderblues · 18/11/2019 13:18

And I know Emilys, Isabels, Miriams Sarahs and Clarissas who go by their full name.

RowenaMud · 18/11/2019 12:54

I don’t think every name is shortened. It depends on where you live and what is the norm there. E.g. I know a Josephine, Samuel, Alexander, Stephanie and many more that are not shortened. I also know an Emma who is called Ems, a Tom (full name is Tom) who is called Tommy and many more like this.

MikeUniformMike · 18/11/2019 12:38

Not yet Lavenderblues. How many Rebeccas do you know compared with Beck/Bex/Becky, Becca? [substitute any other long name and its NNs]

Lavenderblues · 18/11/2019 12:10

My dd has a 3 syllable name that never gets shortened. Maybe you just get used to it?

formerbabe · 18/11/2019 11:47

I don't struggle to say it Confused
I just can't imagine using it in day to day life...like calling upstairs to say dinners ready....or calling after a toddler in the park...it feels like too many syllables.

Whattodoabout · 18/11/2019 11:47

Summer is, the others aren’t.

Lavenderblues · 18/11/2019 11:31

I know an Aurelia. Her name never gets shortened and nobody seems to struggle to say it!

MikeUniformMike · 18/11/2019 09:35

Would the nn be Oral?

formerbabe · 18/11/2019 07:50

Written down, Aurelia seems like a nice name but I can't imagine using it on a day to day basis...it doesn't lend itself to nicknames so you'd have to say the full name every time which seems like a bit of mouthful.

pinksparkleunicorns · 18/11/2019 04:38

Aurelia I don't think is Disney. It was a character in Love Actually which is what I believe caused a spike in popularity of the name.

LimeRedBanana · 17/11/2019 22:47

I must admit, I was also getting very confused about the Disney association re Aurelia. Confused

Pixilicious · 17/11/2019 22:27

Summer and Autumn

TatianaLarina · 17/11/2019 22:20

For the record - you’re allowed to think it’s a Disney character if you like. 😂

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 17/11/2019 22:14

Lydia & Elise are lovely on their own, I wouldn’t bother with a pointless middle name.

NotaWagon · 17/11/2019 22:12

Oh right, you get to tell people what they're allowed to think. Got it.

Other people giving their opinions are ''wittering'' - you're heavily invested in to defending this one name.
