DP and I are really struggling to agree on a name for DS2! DS1 is Albie, so would obvs like it to go with this.
Ideas so far:
Oscar (I love this name but DP worried it might be a bit "posh"!)
Finley/Finlay (I worry that this might not go with Albie)
Ronan (DP likes this name but I worry about the Keating association!)
Keen if possible for an Irish connection as DP is Irish and has a very Irish surname (which will be DS2's surname)
Any honest thoughts appreciated :-)

Kian
Fintan
Flynn
Ronan is a really nice name though
Oisin

What about Niall? It's very common in Ireland but would be a little unusual for England, but not TOO unusual in the sense that it would be hard to pronounce etc.

It depends what your surname is - you mightn't like your sons name to sound super Irish, in comparison to Albie.

What generation are you if you don’t mind me asking?! I think I fall smack bang in the middle of the Keating generation Grin yes, I imagine it’s pretty popular in Ireland - I actually don’t mind that, as it’s not particularly common here in England I don’t think...

What about...

Ronan is too ordinary imo. But then I am Irish and there are many Ronans in my generation. And every other generation 😂

MayFayner · 15/11/2019 17:43

Well seeing as you didn’t get Rowan then I think you should go hard after Oscar.

It isn’t considered posh at all anymore, really it isn’t.

Millie2008 · 15/11/2019 17:41

@Aquamarine1029 - yes, I like Finn - thinking this is what Finley would probs get shortened to

Ezra

Milo

Jethro

@user1493494961 - is that because of the Keating association?! Or just for other reasons...?

What about Finn?

Millie2008 · 15/11/2019 17:34

Thanks so much for the replies!

@bridgetreilly - yes, totally agree that Oscar isn’t really considered posh anymore. I think DP also feels that it’s also not obviously Irish if that makes sense...? Absolutely love Rowan, was top of my list, but DP has sadly pretty much vetoed and I guess it doesn’t go brilliantly with the surname... any other soft sounding name ideas much appreciated though...

@WilheldivaHater - do you think 2 “EE” ending names go ok together? That’s what was worrying me about Finley and Albie...

Art
Flynn
Farrell
Sullivan
Fergus

user1493494961 · 15/11/2019 17:11

I think Albie and Oscar go well together, as do Albie and Finn. Not keen on Ronan.

WilheldivaHater · 15/11/2019 17:06

Oscar could be nicknamed Ozzy, that's less posh and has the same "EE" sounding as Albie.

bridgetreilly · 15/11/2019 16:57

Oscar is not particularly posh these days.

Ronan is fairly common, so although some will think 'Oh like Ronan Keating' no one will assume you've named your son after him.

You could also consider:
Rowan
Fergal
Connor

Millie2008 · 15/11/2019 16:24

Oh sorry forgot to mention - I'm not Irish and we're based in England so would like a name that isn't difficult for English people to pronounce!
