DP and I are really struggling to agree on a name for DS2! DS1 is Albie, so would obvs like it to go with this.
Ideas so far:
Oscar (I love this name but DP worried it might be a bit "posh"!)
Finley/Finlay (I worry that this might not go with Albie)
Ronan (DP likes this name but I worry about the Keating association!)
Keen if possible for an Irish connection as DP is Irish and has a very Irish surname (which will be DS2's surname)
Any honest thoughts appreciated :-)

Ah ok @Bananablueberry - that’s interesting re the pronunciation - I assumed Finley and Finlay would be pronounced the same, but I see what you mean; Fin - lay would be less similar

I really like Ronan, Oscar and Finn (but not so much Finley/Finlay). They'd all work next to Albie.

MidnightMystery · 15/11/2019 22:06

Conor

Bananablueberry · 15/11/2019 22:03

I also know an Oscar in his 20s who isn't remotely posh

Bananablueberry · 15/11/2019 21:56

I'm a bit biased because I absolutely love the name Finlay but I think it goes fine. I pronounce it like Fin-lay rather than Fin-lee so I don't think they're too matchy

Millie2008 · 15/11/2019 21:32

@Bananablueberry - I totally agree that Albie and Oscar go well together Smile Do you think Albie and Finlay sounds a bit odd?

Millie2008 · 15/11/2019 21:29

No @MrsBertBibby! Off to google now though... !

I love Finlay & Finn but don't like it spelt Finley - I think Oscar and Albie sound really good together though

MrsBertBibby · 15/11/2019 21:06

I'd be more worried about the Ronan the Accuser connection.

Have you seen Guardians of the Galaxy?!

Millie2008 · 15/11/2019 21:02

Quite like Logan @Thanksgiving2019 - but thought this was a Scottish name?

Ha ha! Well @MayFayner I'm mid 30's so your thoughts and opinions are of relevance to me! Grin

Fair do’s!

Oscar Wilde was Irish. I don't automatically think of Ronan Keating, just not keen on the sound.

Thanksgiving2019 · 15/11/2019 19:06

How about

Logan or Patrick/Paddy?

Millie2008 · 15/11/2019 19:00

He’s just Albie

OP posts:
MayFayner · 15/11/2019 19:00

I’m early 40s OP

My thoughts and opinions will be of zero relevance to your DS and his contemporaries, so I should probably keep them to myself 😂

Jossina · 15/11/2019 18:44

Is he Albie or Albert/Alban with Albie as a nn?

I do quite like Devin @Aquamarine1029 but worry that it sounds too much like “Kevin” with a D instead of a K! A bit ridiculous I know Blush

Millie2008 · 15/11/2019 17:59

@KatnissK - yes, the popularity thing is a bit of an issue I have with both Oscar and Finn - where we live there seem to be a ton of oscars! Haven’t actually met any young Finn’s but aware there are lots of them!
Reassuring re Ronan - that’s what I’m sort of hoping- that my DS’s peer group won’t even know who he is, and hopefully other parents won’t automatically think I’m a weird superfan (which I’m really not, ha ha!!)

Millie2008 · 15/11/2019 17:56

@pastelyellow- really like Niall but it’s a close relative’s name and I’m not sure what I think of the whole naming after family members thing...

I really like Oscar. I'm not a huge fan of Finley/Finlay/Finn and I know absolutely tons of little boys with this name which puts me off slightly (appreciate this varies a lot depending on where you live). I do quite like Ronan and while I would think 'Keating' I wouldn't think you're a superfan or anything, plus I'm not sure if younger people know who he is.

Aquamarine1029 · 15/11/2019 17:53

I really like Devin.

MissBPotter · 15/11/2019 17:52

I like Oscar and agree it’s not posh anymore. Finn is nice too.

We are a similar family set up to you and considered Arthur (guinness connection?!), Ciaran and Patrick, but had a girl in then end Smile
