Twins!

schafernaker · 11/11/2019 22:55

Shock to the system. 13 week scan and boom we have twins.

We won’t be finding out sexes however have been told they are identical therefore we need 2 boys and 2 girls names. Big sister is Niamh!

Boys names I’m leaning towards Thomas and Joseph (open to suggestions though)

Girls names we are a bit stuck. DD was always going to be Niamh or Orla. I’d quite like to use Orla, but have no idea what we would call the 2nd twin! Would it be a bit weird to have Niamh, Orla and then maybe something very English?

Thoughts please!

Also it's already been mentioned but I love Maeve ☺️

hiyahen · 25/11/2019 14:23

How about Órla and Innes? Or Órla and Cara?

helpiamstressedbuthey · 23/11/2019 12:30

Congratulations, I’ve secretly always wanted twins!
For boys I will agree with previous posters and say stick with Thomas & Joseph , they are such lovely names and go so well together.
for girls:
Maeve
Grace
Alice
Willa
Erin
Kate
Sophie
Dilla
Harriet
love Niamh & Orla too

daisypond · 23/11/2019 11:51

I think it would be a little odd to have two Irish names and one not. I’d go for another easily recognisable Irish name like Niamh.

NachoFries · 23/11/2019 08:16

I love Orla spelt as Órlaith. Looks very pretty.

Caitlyn
Ciara
Éibhlean
Lile
Róisín
Ríonach
Saoirse

PrincessLouis · 15/11/2019 10:32

I also think Joseph & Thomas is great 👍

Girl twins, like PPs, I would do for something slightly Irish iykwim

Orla and Mary (not Mary & Joseph for b/g twins though Grin)
Orla and Fionnuala
Orla and Tara
Orla and Sinead
Orla and Bridget
Orla and Aoife
Orla and Roisin

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 15/11/2019 00:29

To save the Oral autocorrect. Would Aula be an acceptable spelling. It’s just like Paula without the P, isn’t it

WaxOnFeckOff · 14/11/2019 22:41

Orla and Eva
Orla and Ailsa
Orla and Anna
Orla and Cara

FizzyGreenWater · 14/11/2019 09:15

If it helps OP I don't think of Orla spelled that way as particularly Irish - I know 3 and only one of them has Irish heritage. Orla and Phoebe are lovely, as are Orla and Tess.

schafernaker · 13/11/2019 23:53

@Astronica just realised it pretty much has to be Phoebe and Orla so we can go N,O,P alphabetically in age order 😂😂

Hopefully we wouldn’t then have another girl and have to find a Q name 😂

I’m not too concerned how the names ‘go’ together as let’s face it they will spend most of their lives being individuals not the 3 Schafernaker girls. I just wanted to check no one would be a bit... about 2 very clearly Irish names and 1 not 😊

Orla and Lois
Orla and Rosie
Orla and Pippa
Orla and Mollie
Orla and Esme
Orla and Zara
Orla and Eliza

Nam78 · 13/11/2019 14:29

Margot?

FizzyGreenWater · 13/11/2019 11:52

How about Tara?

Astronica · 13/11/2019 08:35

Any 2 of Tess, Phoebe and Orla would be lovely.

I also love Ciara, Bridget, Edie or Edith (or the more unusual Eda), Roisin, Clodagh. I don't think both necessarly need to be Irish, just kind of feel okay together eg Phoebe and Orla work perfectly well I think.

Thomas and Joseph are good. Thomas is a favourite of mine. Also William, Jasper, Henry, Felix.

17caterpillars1mouse · 12/11/2019 19:00

Orlaith (my autocorrect always changes Orla to Oral) and Bridget would be my choice

I also love Phoebe though

user1493494961 · 12/11/2019 16:37

Tess and Phoebe would be lovely.

NoSauce · 12/11/2019 04:35

Oral is beautiful. How about

This is exactly why I don’t like Orla.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 12/11/2019 00:49

Definitely stick with Thomas and Joseph.
They suit all ages and classes. Will never date and the nns Tom and Joe are fab strong names. What’s not to love

Girls
Siobhan and Aisling
Ciara and Sinead.
Bridget and Aileen

Whoops75 · 12/11/2019 00:03

Orla and Maeve

Joseph and Cathal
Joseph and Finn

I like Thomas but don’t love it.

Great excitement!!

schafernaker · 12/11/2019 00:00

@Mumoftwoyoungkids I’d be keen on Órla or Órlaith. Órla is an accepted version in Ireland, Neve on the other hand, my Irish grandmother would’ve beaten me with a stick for 😂😂

I like Erin but DB has already said it is their girls name (they aren’t expecting but would feel bad) we also like Aoife but with the fun we have had with pronunciation and spelling of Niamh we are reluctant to go too Gaelic.

@MissHenty Edie was on our list for Niamh so may be revisited. DH likes Tess or Phoebe 🤷🏻‍♀️

Seems as though Thomas and Joseph are a hit though!

LOVE Thomas and Joseph

IF you went with Orla, what about Siobhan, Aisling or Erin ?

MrsBertBibby · 11/11/2019 23:49

Sinead.

Torin

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 11/11/2019 23:47

Thomas and Joseph are really nice. Tom and Joe.

I do rather like Orla but agree that probably should come up with a third Irish name. Ciara? Maeve? Aoife? Caoimhe? Eilidh?

One other thought - is Orla the anglicised version of the name? Have a vague feeling I’ve seen Orlagh as well? If so then might be simpler to use Orlagh as your Niamh is Niamh and not Neve if you see what I mean.

clpsmum · 11/11/2019 23:43

Isla, Iona, Freya, Erin

Pieceofpurplesky · 11/11/2019 23:41

Orla and Imogen
Orla and Emer
