Do these names work together with Elijah?

Cariaprl · 06/11/2019 14:19

Does the name Autumn work with Elijah? Is it too many vowels? I'm possibly reading too much in to it.

Our other ideas are India or Sienna. I also like the name Holly.

We can't think of any other girls names.
Any suggestions/ideas would be welcomed x

Why on earth do they need to match????

Idolovetobebesidethesea · 10/11/2019 11:25

I actually think they do match quite well.
Although Elijah is biblical it doesn't have the same feel to me as Samuel, Thomas, Josiah, Joshua...
I think of it like Ezra or Amos or Seth - trendy without being tacky.
I think Autumn fits well with it.
Sienna and India don't fit as well to me because they aren't as fresh feeling.

MrsFoxPlus4Again · 09/11/2019 12:53

I don’t think they need to match.

Tortoiser · 08/11/2019 10:40

Holly is bland.
I agree Autumn and Elijah don’t ‘match.’
I love what a PP suggested - Elijah and Talitha. Gorgeous name.

Leopardprintboots · 08/11/2019 10:32

Have you made a decision @Cariaprl

I vote Autumn or Holly. Both would work fine with sibling name. I actually wouldn’t give other people’s siblings name a second thought about whether they “match” or not. I don’t understand? Would you always dress siblings the same? They’re different people!

Cariaprl · 07/11/2019 19:05

Saltnpepperr thank you!

NoSauce love India as well :)

India.

Saltnpepperr · 07/11/2019 14:43

I think Elijah and autumn go great together. While Elijah is a classic name, it is also currently quite trendy so sounds really well with girls names that are contemporary or classic. Sound fab together.

Lavenderblues · 07/11/2019 13:35

Hipster? I don't find either of them hipster.

Elijah is very religious to me.

But I don't think names need to match! You're raising two individuals, not a matching pair.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 07/11/2019 12:50

I totally agree with memaymamo 100%

memaymamo · 07/11/2019 09:01

They do match, they're both a bit hipster. Elijah is a biblical name but it's hipster-Biblical, like Esther.

Having said that, names don't need to match, it's fine.

Neither Autumn nor Elijah are my sort of name, but I agree with Marsha that they go nicely together in an unexpected sort of way. I don't think you need to worry at all.

Astronica · 06/11/2019 23:45

Autumn is lovely and works very well for Elijah's sister. Great choice. Like a pp said, unexpected but in a very nice way.

I also like Holly from your list and that would work well too. I would cross off India and Sienna as they just sound odd next to Elijah to me.

MarshaBradyo · 06/11/2019 21:21

Autumn and Elijah that is

Unexpected but in a nice way

MarshaBradyo · 06/11/2019 21:20

I really like them together

mathanxiety · 06/11/2019 21:18

They don't match. While names don't have to match, you can avoid giving the impression that the children are not in the same family.

I think Eden (as suggested by a pp) would be nice if you like Autumn and Sienna. I think what you need with Elijah is names that are not modern like Autumn and Sienna.
You could go with biblical/classical names that might be a little unusual. While Eden is fairly new, it has a long history and it is a biblical reference.

YY to 'Puritan names'. Dinah is great.

Unusual granny chic names might work with Elijah too.

Elijah and Talitha

Elijah and Autumn don't sound like they've been named by the same people, to me.

BonBon411 · 06/11/2019 21:04

I love the name Elijah, but NONE of your girls names.

Cariaprl · 06/11/2019 20:58

Thank you for the positive replies Smile I'm actually not worried now.
Thank you so much
