Deciding on a name for baby #3

amyc1976 · 06/11/2019 07:21

Hi all,

I’m soon to give birth to baby #3 (a girl). I need some help with deciding on a name. My eldest is called Charlotte (Lottie) and number 2 is Archie. Our favourites are:
Rose (Rosie)
Matilda (Milly or Tilly)
Harriet (Hattie or Hettie)

Do you think Hattie/Hettie is too similar to Lottie? What are your thoughts on Rose and Matilda? Open to other suggestions. I’m a fan of Victorian-era names.

Thanks!
Amy

You have similar name taste to me! I love love love Matilda. We are also thinking Rosie (Rosalie) for our DC3 if it’s a girl. Other ideas Florence, Annabelle, Beatrix, Amelie, violet, Ivy & Liliana. Good luck!

Very pretty and feminine. 👍

Rose and Isabelle are both lovely. What about Isabelle Rose?

BonBon411 · 07/11/2019 14:02

Love Harriet & Matilda.

NoSauce · 07/11/2019 10:58

Isabelle is nice, I wouldn’t use Hattie with Lottie if I’m honest. I like Matilda and Rose too.

I like both ways, my daughter is Isabel Grace, she's usually called Izzy. I love all the names you've used and suggested, they could have all been from lists I wrote. My youngest is now 9 and I won't be having anymore so sadly I won't get to use of the names now 😔

amyc1976 · 07/11/2019 09:03

Oh gorgeous! I like the way you spell it. I live in Australia. It tends to be spelt Isabelle most commonly over here.

We have similar tastes- I have an Isabel! 😍

amyc1976 · 07/11/2019 06:08

Thanks! I’m actually thinking of Isabelle now.

Matilda is my favourite

Astronica · 06/11/2019 23:34

I love all 3 of your names. I would still do Harriet/Hattie/Hettie with a Lottie, though it may sway me towards one of your other names if you're looking for a way to narrow down the list. I do particularly like Harrie for Harriet though.

diddlediddle · 06/11/2019 22:31

I think Hattie is a bit much with Lottie, and Archie as well.

Matilda is the best match with your other DCs.

whattodo2019 · 06/11/2019 20:30

Harriet/ Hattie
Matilda - Tilly

DramaAlpaca · 06/11/2019 20:26

I like all your options, and Hattie/Hettie is fine with Lottie.

Lironlavie1 · 06/11/2019 19:22

I love Rose. Beautiful!
We have lots and lots of Matilda here.... and not too keen on Harriet x

Loveislandaddict · 06/11/2019 15:59

Hettie is fine with Lottie.

Other names:
Dorothea
Theodora
Gwendolyn
Adelaide
Kathleen
Helena
Florence

So true about the Royal thing. FYI - we got in before the Royals with Charlotte and Archie, so they copied us! Grin

Matilda is great!
I adore the name Harriet, I wanted to call one of our daughters it but husband didn't like it, I would however advise avoiding the nickname Harry as it could look like your following the royal family in name choice! 😂

Matilda my favourite too ❤️ Or maybe Rose
All great names
