Surname and middle name are both one syllable so we want at least a two syllable name (middle name will be John).

Names I love that have been vetoed:

Raphael / Rafael nn Rafi (my absolute favorite but DW thinks it’s pretentious)

Jago (too ‘nicknamey’)

Rohan (Too ‘wet’)

Milo (Nestle milk)

Oscar (she had a fish called Oscar)

Tobias nn Toby (just doesn’t like it)

Names she likes that I don’t:

Rhodri
Ezra
Jonah
Sebastian

We can’t use a name beginning with El as it would be too matchy matchy with our DD which is a shame as we both like Elijah, Elliot and Ellis

Other names we both like but can’t use as they already belong to close friends or cousins are Arlo, Issac, Theo and Reuben

There is one name neither of us dislike (Jacob) but neither of us love it either. Please wise Mumsnetters there must be a name we haven't thought of yet??!

Jethro is nice too.
Still not as good as Granville mind but I'd like to meet a Jethro.

Scarlett555 · 04/11/2019 14:51

Skye I really like Benjamin (all boys called Ben are lovely) but DW says no...

Liking the J names. Josiah and Jedidiah are lovely names... quite biblical though. I know I've mentioned other biblical names but they are a bit more mainstream.

Jethro is an interesting one... I like it. Although it rhymes with death row 🤔 but it is very cool. I think we're getting closer.

Thanks so much for all the suggestions it is really helping.

I am overdue DS2 and we're considering Rafael/Raphael too (though I know your DP has vetoed it).
DS1 is called Dexter though, so thought I'd throw that in the ring too! We love it and it really suits him. Dexter John works well too. Grin

Does anyone actually give a toss anymore about homosexuality? I'm in my 50s, DSs are late teens, I also work in a conservative environment and I don't know anyone who cares about this. Good luck with the little one OP, hope you find something you both like.

Themazeoflife · 04/11/2019 12:49

Jackson shorten to Jax

Theo is nice and not very common

Zaine is a name I really like but was not brave enough to use (20 years ago)
