Surname and middle name are both one syllable so we want at least a two syllable name (middle name will be John).

Names I love that have been vetoed:

Raphael / Rafael nn Rafi (my absolute favorite but DW thinks it’s pretentious)

Jago (too ‘nicknamey’)

Rohan (Too ‘wet’)

Milo (Nestle milk)

Oscar (she had a fish called Oscar)

Tobias nn Toby (just doesn’t like it)

Names she likes that I don’t:

Rhodri
Ezra
Jonah
Sebastian

We can’t use a name beginning with El as it would be too matchy matchy with our DD which is a shame as we both like Elijah, Elliot and Ellis

Other names we both like but can’t use as they already belong to close friends or cousins are Arlo, Issac, Theo and Reuben

There is one name neither of us dislike (Jacob) but neither of us love it either. Please wise Mumsnetters there must be a name we haven't thought of yet??!

@Scarlett555 I really like Arlo. It has a lovely sound to it. I think you should go for it as you’ve finally found a name you both like. Isn’t Arlo actually an old English name? It’s not like it’s a made up modern name

Tiptopj · 04/11/2019 21:47

I nearly called my son Micah pronounced my-ca. It's a really old Hebrew/biblical name if you like Jacob, ezra ect

Scarlett555 · 04/11/2019 21:42

Thanks so much everyone! We've gone through every single name suggested and mulled them all over. And still can't agree! I really like Rocco and Miko but DW thinks they are too 'out there'. She loves Ezra and Jacob but I don't think either is the one.

We keep coming back to the name Arlo - both of us really like it but we have close friends (who live in another country) with a DS Arlo and also one of DW's colleagues just named her DS Arlo. It's one of those fashion names that might seem very dated in a few years. Arlo John is lovely though...

I was going to suggest Jacob and then I seen that it's one name you both like but don't love. I'd go with it, it's an awesome name Wink

poccadot · 04/11/2019 21:10

We liked similar names and ended up picking Hugo
