What are people’s thoughts? Is it classic?

Also, it sounds so similar to Willow (depending on accents, I suppose). She will always be correcting people.

IreneWinters · 03/11/2019 15:24

It makes me wonder where the rest of the name is. As a nickname for Wilhelmina it’s quite nice. I prefer Willow (well I would, it’s my dd’s middle name).

MissHenty · 03/11/2019 15:18

@Omashu oh no I’m starting to get a name for myself 🤣🙈

Glad not everyone loves it as much as me as I don’t want it getting too popular. I think if I’d just read the name in a list of names I probably wouldn’t have considered it but I’ve seen it used in everyday life I really love it. It has so many familliar sounds in it (willow, William, Ella) yet is so unusual in its own right.

Oh dear I’m off on one again aren’t I !! 🙈

Cbeebiesrehab · 03/11/2019 15:18

Love it!

CuteOrangeElephant · 03/11/2019 15:11

@Cookit there's Willa Cather, an American author.

Cookit · 03/11/2019 15:10

I like it a lot.

I’m not sure if it’s classic though. When did it start being used? Perhaps it is, I just haven’t heard of any historical Willas.

Trustmeimamidwife · 03/11/2019 15:03

Horrible

NoSauce · 03/11/2019 15:01

No! It’s terrible. So weak and watery and will badly date.

Omashu · 03/11/2019 15:00

Haha I saw the title and came on to say @MissHenty will be along to proclaim their love for this name 😂😂😂

Astronica · 03/11/2019 14:45

If classic means a name that's been pretty continuously used through the centuries then no, it's not. eg Elizabeth, Catherine, Margaret, Sarah, Ann/Anna are classics.
That said, I do really like Willa. Seems neat, interesting and stylish to me.

MayFayner · 03/11/2019 14:34

I think it doesn’t know whether to be strong or pretty and ends up being neither.

DramaAlpaca · 03/11/2019 14:32

No, it's not classic.

I don't like it at all.

Wintercandles · 03/11/2019 14:16

Terrible sorry.

SallyCinnamon3009 · 03/11/2019 13:25

Always makes me think of Willa Jean from the Ramona books 😃

Crystal87 · 03/11/2019 13:03

I don't like Willa. Willow is better but I don't love that either.

FizzyGreenWater · 03/11/2019 12:53

I don't know - I really like the idea of it but in practice I think it sounds so much like Willow that it will be misheard a lot. It also looks better written down than said out loud somehow!

mulky · 03/11/2019 12:45

I hear it in a strong Liverpool accent as a nickname for William. I don't think it's great.

MissHenty · 03/11/2019 12:19

@Sstorm 👍😆 good idea!

Sstorm · 03/11/2019 12:13

Lets agree to disagree 🤣

MissHenty · 03/11/2019 12:06

No one says “Willy” about William when that literally has the sound “Willy” within the name!!

Willa you’d have to change the sound to make it into Willy. William you wouldn’t. Yet William is regarded as one of the most sensible names out there!

Can you tell I adore this name 🤣 @Sstorm

Krazynights34 · 03/11/2019 11:53

Love it!!

Sstorm · 03/11/2019 11:50

Willy. Sorry

Wheat2Harvest · 03/11/2019 11:32

Do be aware of Willa the Witch.

Sugarplummy84 · 03/11/2019 11:31

Thank you.
Yes I am expecting a little girl. I have met a couple of Willa’s and really like it but can’t find out much info about the name!

MissHenty · 03/11/2019 11:26

I just need a daughter now 🤣 are you pregnant with a little girl @Sugarplummy84 ? So jealous you get to use “Willa”

Can I ask where you heard of it?
