Kerry? Avery?

Hard to decide between Avery and Kerry. Want you to criticize these two names. Or give me some ideas of what kind of person do you picture? Are they council house names? Which name could pass the supreme court test?

Being mean can help me quickly make a final decision so please bring it on or suggest some similar unisex names

What about Lindsay or Hilary?

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 03/11/2019 10:10

Avery reminds me of birds and is a very American sounding name.
Kerry, my husband has a beautiful, kind, funny, hardworking all round lovely niece who is in her early 30's who is nothing like the kerry's everyone has described on here but her name is spelt Ceri, maybe that's the difference. I like it

Astronica · 03/11/2019 09:55

I dislike both names. I don't know if you are looking for boy or girl names? Though I don't like them I think these work better for a girl than a boy.

Kerry went out years ago - along with your comment about council houses!

DonkeyHotty · 03/11/2019 09:49

Hmm Kerry Katona and Kerry Muclowe.

namechangexcx · 03/11/2019 09:48

I’m a Kerri born in the late 90s. I’ve never heard anyone call it a “council house name” Hmm before. People are often surprised that I’m so young when they hear my name before meeting me, so I can see why people have said it’s dated. I know a male Kerry in his late 40s so I’ve always thought of it as a unisex name with feminine spellings. FWIW I love my name, but I’m not sure I’d give it to a baby now.

IGot5OnIt · 03/11/2019 09:44

Avery is lovely can't stand the name Kerry but that might be because it's my neighbours name and all she does is scream at her kids 🙈

Lobsterquadrille2 · 03/11/2019 09:38

Sorry, I don't like either. Kerry is dated and Avery just doesn't flow well as a name. As a PP said, Kiri is nicer, or Mary?

bridgetreilly · 03/11/2019 09:22

Avery is American and Kerry is 1970s/80s dated. I don't like either.

mistydayswampwitch · 03/11/2019 09:18

Are they council house names?

Seriously!? I grew up in a council house. I have the same name as the Queen. Is that a council house name then? Must tell Her Maj

AuntieStella · 03/11/2019 09:01

I would assume both were boys, and that the first was spelt Ceri

So if you are after unisex names, tending to boys names, try Rowan, Alex (Sasha for more masculine), Robin, Harley

Loneranger14 · 03/11/2019 08:54

I love blakesley

QuinoaWest · 03/11/2019 08:54

...council house names?

Katie Hopkins-esque comment.

orangeteal · 03/11/2019 08:47

And wouldn't associated Kerry as being unisex at all.

orangeteal · 03/11/2019 08:46

Kerry seems very dated to me, most Kerrys I know are 35-40+.

Avery I associate as an American man's name, too feminine sounding for a boy in UK, but too much a boy's name to be a girl's if that makes sense. Also too close to sounding like a bird house.

MidnightMystery · 03/11/2019 08:41

Kerry bla
Avery - reminds me of "making a murderer"

user1493494961 · 03/11/2019 08:33

Don't like either, sorry.

Somebodystired · 03/11/2019 08:28

I'm a Kerry, and although I have no issues with my name, please do not give it to a baby in this day and age! There are so many beautiful names out there and Kerry is not one of them.

HeronLanyon · 03/11/2019 08:26

Kerry - would think county Kerry and assume a strong Irish connection. Kiri (NZ) is becoming more popular and I think I prefer it. Kerry doesn’t sound fully unisex to me (Like frances/cis or Lesley/ie - seems much more of a girl’s name ?
Avery - if in south London I’d think Avery Hill - i’d then worry spellings would be all over the shop for his/her life - mostly aviary - seems very much a girl’s name to my ear. Not sure what a boys nickname would be ?
Good luck op.

Cookit · 03/11/2019 08:26

Kerry is so incredibly dated though isn’t it? It’s so 80s. A class full of Kerrys, Gemmas and Nicolas.

I see Kerry Katona also tbh.

Avery - I guess I would assume you are American?

So I guess I find them very different names. Kerry is probably born in Wigan in 1984 and Avery is 2010s US somewhere.

Courtney555 · 03/11/2019 08:21

For unisex names, how about Alex, Drew?

Courtney555 · 03/11/2019 08:20

@EleanorShellstrop100

Funnily enough both the Kerrys I knew are like that too! Both had gingery long hair. Hands full of Argos rings and gold chains with clowns or unicorns. One at my school who walked round smoking in her silver puffa jacket. The other who lived not far away was identifical. Like little Bianca Jacksons. Ones now approaching 40 and set up with a 19yo. Her own son is now 22.

Peachbubble · 03/11/2019 07:28

I like Avery, not keen on Kerry

Huggybear16 · 03/11/2019 04:51

First thought on Avery - the man from Making a Murderer
