How popular is Arthur IRL?

I know that Arthur has rocketed in popularity in recent years but in real terms, I’m interested to see how many people actually know. I’ve always really liked the name but thought we’d settled on Toby but now I’m seriously considering Arthur too.

Thank you so much for updating us @blondie87

Let us know when little Arthur arrives

It’s a classic name - great choice

blondie87 · 06/11/2019 19:01

Thanks for all your input. It seems really popular but I guess there’s a reason. We really like it and I think it’s the one!

I've nannied for two Arthur's, my fiend Nanny's an Arthur, a young family member is called Arthur, my boss's nephew is called Arthur....

I know a LOT. I adore the name though!

Hey1256 · 03/11/2019 18:58

I know someone having A baby soon calling him...Arthur's sounds like it's going up in popularity lately, still lesss popular than a lot of other names though

Freeshavocado · 03/11/2019 18:54

I don't know any with first name Arthur but I know 2 people who have had babies in the last 5 days and both have the middle name Arthur.

Toadsrevisited · 03/11/2019 18:40

I've got one primary aged, and know 6 more locally....

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 03/11/2019 18:30

Nonnymum · 03/11/2019 18:24

userabcname · 03/11/2019 18:03

I know 4 Arthurs under 3 and 1 teen.

Nitw1t · 03/11/2019 18:01

I know 4 under 5. (SE, and don't know LOADS of children).

In fact, I can't think of a more popular boy's name my acquaintance. (Teddy, maybe)

littlemissalwaystired · 03/11/2019 17:56

I'm a midwife and have seen so many Arthurs lately.

Freaking0ut · 03/11/2019 17:49

My Arthur is 6. There is another one in his class and I have heard younger children around the place called Arthur. It seems to have sky rocketed in popularity over the last few years. I don’t mind, it’s a strong name Grin

GleamInYourEyes · 03/11/2019 17:42

I know 5 under 6.

Cookit · 03/11/2019 17:39

I actually haven’t met any. Not any any baby groups, two nurseries, pre-school etc.

dollius · 03/11/2019 17:17

My Arthur is 12. I don’t recall it being popular when we chose it, not sure now

blondie87 · 03/11/2019 17:13

@blondie87 do you mind me asking what you other children’s names are? I inboxed you Incase you didn’t want to say on here.

Arthur is NOT a faddy name IMO. Because it’s been high up in the charts many times over the past centuries etc. It’s not like names like Roman and Hunter and Grayson which are now in the top 100 for the first time ever (and therefore probably the last time ever!). They really will date and become “Darren” and “Keith”. Arthur will not. It sounds like a classic historical name with so much history ❤️

Confusedbeetle · 03/11/2019 11:32

Not name you would want if you watch Peaky Blinders

WellTidy · 03/11/2019 11:30

There are three Arthurs in DS’ class of 22 boys. Year 7.

SallyWD · 03/11/2019 11:29

I don't know any and until recently worked at a primary school. None at my kids school either.

HelloGeeniee · 03/11/2019 11:27

Arthur has been my #1 boys name for years now but recently it’s got so popular and I know 4 little Arthur’s, including my cousins son Sad

Cbeebiesrehab · 03/11/2019 00:16

I know two Arthurs born this year and an Artie. However I don’t think it’s faddy, it's a solid, traditional name. Considered it myself but don’t like Art/Artie and like a nickname.

imclaustrophobicdarren · 02/11/2019 21:34

My grandad is called Arthur and he bought me a dog, I called the dog Arthur Grin

blondie87 · 02/11/2019 21:21

*i don’t mind popularity per se I meant!
