I’m Currently pregnant and struggling to think of a name to go with Emily.

We are not finding out the sex of the baby so need to have a boy and girl name sorted.

Any ideas?

I think Emily goes with loads of names. For. A boy I think all the popular older names like George, Jack, Oliver go well with Emily. Also David, Daniel, James, Joseph, Samuel, Ben...
For a girl I like Grace, Rosie, Sarah, Anna, Katie, Lucy

I was going to suggest Charlotte, I'm biased as i have one. It's a classic name and goes well with Emily and there's a nice amount of contrast as i avoids the 'ee' sound ending. In the same vein you could consider Sophia (rather than Sophie to avoid two 'ee' endings)

I have an Emily and a Isabelle and billy

Charlotte might be nice to go with the Bronte theme.

I like Charlotte nn Lottie.

Loads of great names mentioned here but have to rule out all the ones I like because we know other people with the name.

I really like Alice and Lucas but DH doesn’t like either unfortunately. I think I like Charlotte but I’m not sure.

Lucia for a girl. James for a boy.

@PaisleyPrintz oops yes sorry it was me that suggested Emma. Not one of my better suggestions was it 🤣

Marmite27 · 25/10/2019 21:24

Nice to see Peter mentioned. Had one of them been a boy, I’d have had an Emily and a Peter.

DC2s name has already been mentioned.

PaisleyPrintz · 25/10/2019 21:21

Do not use Emma or Amelia with the name Emily! They sound far too similar.

@Dumptyhumpty101 ah I’m sorry to hear this about your name. I have the opposite problem- a very very popular name from the 1980s (think sarah style popular). It annoyed me I was always in a class with 2 or more other. I felt like my parents hadn’t put much thought into my name, especially as my 2 younger siblings have much more unusual names. It still irks me a bit I’m embarrassed to say. I recon I’d have loved your name but that’s a silly thing of me to say really isn’t it when I don’t know what it is and I don’t know what it’s been like for you
