I love the meaning of this name and the fact that it’s the name of my special saint.

Any thoughts?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Uzi!!!! omg

I like it OP but it's quite marmite.

CruCru · 22/10/2019 22:40

I know a little girl called this - Uzi for short. She’s a nice girl and I like the name.

haverhill · 22/10/2019 22:39

I’m afraid names that start with U make me think of ‘ugly’. Silly but true.

MsTSwift · 22/10/2019 22:38

I like it as strong and feminine - better than all the soppy Millie molly poppy lily names that are so bafflingly popular

SorrowfulMystery · 22/10/2019 22:35

I love it. It’s got a kind of plain, retro strength about it that I like. Someone very cool that I know called her daughter Ursula.

My associations are Ursula Le Guin rather than a cartoon character.

OnTopOfTheWardrobe · 22/10/2019 22:30

Awful. I knew a young-ish Ursula (teens) and the name really didn't suit her. Plus, we all hummed under the sea whenever she was present... must have driven her barmy!

BoudicasBoudoir · 22/10/2019 21:27

I think of a friend of my mother’s when I was a child. She was kind. And an acquaintance (40s) who is scatty.
I like the name and its meaning.

NameChangedNoImagination · 22/10/2019 21:24

I know someone with that name. It's fine. People say sea witch and all that but I find name associations pass very quickly and soon the name becomes normal.

QuaterMiss · 22/10/2019 21:17

We don’t use the word ‘sexy’ any more (which is a shame as it’s so clear and simple) but ‘Ursula’ has such a strong association with DH Lawrence that any woman bearing the name must surely live a live of deep sensuality and passionate self expression.

Which I’m sure is exactly what you’d want for your DD OP ...

EdWinchester · 22/10/2019 20:38

An ugly name, imo.

MonnaLIza · 22/10/2019 20:37

love it :)

Slappadabass · 22/10/2019 20:33

It's awful. I instantly thought of friends too!

daisypond · 22/10/2019 20:27

I love it. It’s a strong name and not cutesy. Never seen Little Mermaid cartoon. There isn’t a Ursula in the story.

shumway · 22/10/2019 14:31

Lovely name.

StacyQA086 · 22/10/2019 14:30

As a child, I liked watching The little mermaid and I'm a fan of The Friends TV show. Nevertheless, for me, Ursula is a very beautiful name!

Saharafordessert · 22/10/2019 14:28

I think it’s ugly too.

QuaterMiss · 22/10/2019 14:27

I love it.

But then I also adore Gudrun and Maud which no one else can stand ...

HalfManHalfLabrador · 22/10/2019 14:25

POOR UNFORTUNATE SOULS

midsomermurderess · 22/10/2019 14:25

I think it's lovely. People do exist in a world not dominated by children's cartoons.

Weekday28 · 22/10/2019 14:24

I know someone IRL with this name she is around 35 and really beautiful it absolutely suits her. Also her husband has pretentious name so they fit together very well, not sure she could have married a Tom as it would make her name stand out even more. If you like it use it.

RuthW · 22/10/2019 14:20

It's an ugly name. Sorry.

Hawknotdove · 22/10/2019 13:21

I read a book recently “life after life” by Kate Atkinson. Main character is called Ursula and I now have secret love for it! I think it’s quite a brave choice - not very on trend. But use it if you love it! Also love the meaning.

user1493494961 · 22/10/2019 10:38

Not keen, reminds me of insular. I know one in her seventies, I don't think it's due a comeback.

Ontheblackhill · 22/10/2019 08:25

Love it! Im far too old for Little mermaid connotations and your daughter will be far too young!

Jj2431 · 22/10/2019 08:22

Always loved it but have nothing but 'sea witch' mentioned when I mention it. Such a shame
