Thoughts?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ilovetofu · 21/10/2019 20:44

Makes me think of a Walkman.

FriedasCarLoad · 21/10/2019 20:43

Meant to add:

Given it’s cute on a young child, it’d make an adorable nickname.

AdaColeman · 21/10/2019 20:38

It's alright for a toddler, but I don't think it works well for an adult.

FriedasCarLoad · 21/10/2019 20:35

Prefer Sonny to Sonni.

But really don’t like either as a forename -as a PP said, it’s cute on a very young child but (to my ears) faintly ridiculous for a grown man.

EdWinchester · 21/10/2019 20:34

It's a silly nickname. Ludicrous on an adult.

DisappointingBanana · 21/10/2019 20:33

he's such a sweet and happy boy and it really suits him

But what about when he's a grumpy old man?

BertrandRussell · 21/10/2019 20:31

Would a 50 year old man really want to be called Sonny?

GetTheSprinkles · 21/10/2019 20:28

Big yes from me. Unusual and cute. I liked both this and Sol for DS but DP refused

themiddleismyhome · 21/10/2019 20:18

My nephew is a sonny, at first I was Hmm but now I love it, he's such a sweet and happy boy and it really suits him.

fishonabicycle · 21/10/2019 19:48

My favourite uncle was called this - I like it.

Whoops75 · 21/10/2019 19:43

Love it but only with. y at the end

Also love Shay

Shadow1234 · 21/10/2019 19:41

Love it.

mrspotatohed · 21/10/2019 19:01

I'm having a girl but would've picked Sonny if she was a boy.

Raphael34 · 21/10/2019 18:59

I’ve got a sonny. I love it 🥰

DisappointingBanana · 21/10/2019 18:58

Awful. A traditional moniker for a young boy used by someone older; it could be affectionate or disparaging. It was never an actual name, though.

And it’d be ridiculous on a middle aged man.

anyoldvic · 21/10/2019 17:53

It's a nickname for a small boy, not a take-me-seriously name for a grown-up.

CoolcoolcoolcoolcoolNoDoubt · 21/10/2019 17:52

Yeah I know a Sonny and I love it as a shortened version of his full name.

MissHenty · 21/10/2019 17:49

Once you hear it a couple of times you don’t think of the “son” reference. It’s just a name in its own right

MissHenty · 21/10/2019 17:48

I think it’s a gorgeous name. Not wacky. Soft but manly. I think I’m biased because I know one who is a gorgeous little boy and really suits his name

Wolfiefan · 21/10/2019 17:47

Sonny Jim.
No. Hate it.

BertrandRussell · 21/10/2019 17:46

It’s like calling a child “Youngfellermelad”

EmpressLesbianInChair · 21/10/2019 17:43

It’s always going to be a little boy’s name.

RuthW · 21/10/2019 17:34

Awful for a grown man. Cute for an under 5

Morado · 21/10/2019 17:28

My friend has a boy named Sonny. I didn't like it at first but he suited it soooo much! Love it now ☺️

PlasticPatty · 21/10/2019 17:25

Horrible. Disrespectful term from an older man to a younger.
