Nice or terrible?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

If you're going to chose a whacky name at least make up your own version instead of nicking it off the Geldofs/Hutchences? Hmm

AdalindMeisner · 18/10/2019 12:47

Peter Pan was the first thing that popped into my head - sorry!

MediocreOmens · 18/10/2019 12:47

I had the same thoughts @Dyrne. Interestingly there was a thread on here a while back about a poster wanting to send her daughter to world book day dressed as Tigerlily and she got flamed for the racist connotations.

Dyrne · 18/10/2019 12:46

If you think it’s a bit too mainstream you could also use the alternative name for the plant - the Ditch Lily?

Dyrne · 18/10/2019 12:44

@imclaustrophobicdarren I realise that, and it’s a bit depressing tbh.

Who gives a shit about racism, eh?

december20100 · 18/10/2019 12:34

Little bit odd for my taste but if you like it go for it

imclaustrophobicdarren · 18/10/2019 11:53

@Dyrne you're likely to be the only person who thinks like that...

I love it and know one! She's 17 and gets full name or tiger or tigs. She's doesn't like Lilly as says it's so mainstream! And I'm sure she will go on to have a great career!

Dyrne · 18/10/2019 09:32

I’d associate it with the massively racist portrayal of the “indyuns” in Peter Pan; and the massively racist casting of a white actress to play the part in Pan.

So, you know, just massively racist overtones in general.

LittleLongDog · 18/10/2019 09:20

Sweet for a newborn but can you imagine a teacher or a lawyer or a doctor called Tigerlily?

Yes.

Candymay · 18/10/2019 09:13

I’ve always loved that name. I wouldn’t use it because Paula Yates did. But I loved it before that because of Peter Pan.

Morado · 18/10/2019 09:13

Yes, yes I can!

WWlOOlWW · 18/10/2019 09:09

I love it but wouldn't be so cruel as to call my child it.

Was my nick name as a kid.

BreastedBoobilyToTheStairs · 18/10/2019 09:06

Terrible unless she lives in Neverland.

Cornishmum00 · 18/10/2019 09:04

I know a tigerlily, now a teen she goes by her middle name as hates it

BlueMoon1103 · 18/10/2019 09:00

I really love it but not sure I’d use it.

Babyg1995 · 18/10/2019 08:47

I like it

OkayGo · 18/10/2019 08:44

I like it but I wouldn't use it

Harvey3 · 18/10/2019 08:07

Not to my taste

Dljlr · 18/10/2019 07:57

I'd have said terrible but I have a new student called TygerLily and I love it! It's very cool.

SubmersibleSandwich · 18/10/2019 07:57

This is a wind up, right?

NoSauce · 18/10/2019 07:56

I actually like it. I would never use it but I’ve always been fond of it since Paula Yates names of her daughter.

Marcipex · 18/10/2019 07:51

I like it too.
Make sure you choose a nice dull middle name in case she’s shy and retiring though.

Dino44 · 18/10/2019 07:50

It’s too out there for me. Cute for a baby/child but that little girl will grow up fast!

MrsNoMopp · 18/10/2019 07:48

I like it
