funkt · 17/10/2019 20:47

Mine must be:

Male:
Rufus (never liked the name)
Jonathan (personal hate 🤷‍♀️)
Marcus (reminds me of mucus)

Female:
Brianne (annoying name)
Kim (Kim Jong-Un, Kim Kardashian...)
Regina (Mean Girls)
Karen (stupid Mean Girl)
Rachel (bit plain and Rachel Green)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
aweedropofsancerre · 18/10/2019 13:51

My DH suggested Troy...... that’s all I need to say ( and apologies to anyone who has named there DC that)

Ohmygod123 · 18/10/2019 13:49

My OH once met someone called Tallula Blue-Ray (obviously born before the blueray dvd was invented) and is insistant that's what he wants to called his little girl if we have one

HalfManHalfLabrador · 18/10/2019 13:15

Sharon - in 1999!! Confused

l12d04 · 18/10/2019 13:13

Francesca

I don't mind the name itself but hate Fran/Frankie which she would inevitably be called

userabcname · 18/10/2019 12:32

Mine suggested Hades, insisting it would be fine as no-one pays attention to meanings or would know who Hades is (!). I disagreed. He stated a thread on Reddit about it to try to prove me wrong but luckily everyone there was on my side!

spice3 · 18/10/2019 12:26

@HotSince82 Grin

My DP also suggested Barry at one point Confused

HotSince82 · 18/10/2019 12:23

Yes, Eden is primarily a boys name, I think its too masculine sounding with the hard consonant at the end for a girl.

My DH suggested both Cadence and Brad Confused

spice3 · 18/10/2019 12:19

@Ahundredpercentthatbitch I love Maverick Grin

My DP has suggested Eden for a girl but I've always loved to name a boy it Blush
He also suggested Elin for a girl and really didn't like that!

TateWorm · 18/10/2019 11:51

My now-ex's only girl name suggestions were all his exes' names and—as I found out later—names of women he was messaging behind my back.

His boy name suggestions were mostly after rock stars (think members of the Rolling Stones, AC/DC and Black Sabbath) and he seriously wanted to name our firstborn after Bam Margera (we're Scottish and bam is a word used to refer to an idiotic person so that would have been great fun to have as a name here.)

We had girls and went with names I liked thankfully.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 18/10/2019 11:45

Blaithín was his suggestion for a girl with dc2.

He genuinely couldn’t understand why a non-Irish speaker wouldn’t think “blaw” was an attractive start to a name.

Ahundredpercentthatbitch · 18/10/2019 11:44

Maverick.

He was serious.

LikeTheFruit · 18/10/2019 11:42

DH likes Giles/Gyles and doesn't think it's in the least bit posh!

OhMsBeliever · 18/10/2019 11:41

My now ex insisted that if we ever had a girl she'd be called Jocelyn.

No. And no again.

I told him in my mind it was a posh mans name not a cute baby girls name but he wouldn't have it. (Sorry to anyone with a girl Jocelyn)

Luckily we had boys so I never faced having to outright refuse it.

ChrisPrattsFace · 18/10/2019 11:38

DH really loved Wayne. Actually hate the name, my accent and they way it comes out is just horrific!

Magicmama92 · 18/10/2019 11:36

My partner suggest bo for our little girl.
No thanks.

I dont really like names like north apple etc I'm more of a normal or old fashioned name person haha. For me its finding names that dont remind you of people you dont like as well if you bullied by a james it does put you off that name.

Naomimi · 18/10/2019 09:34

Persephone
Dorothea
Ariadne
Arabella
Cassiopeia
Amandine

All lovely but way too much with our long surname!

ChilliMayo · 18/10/2019 09:12

Carl.
I really took against it. I've only ever met one Carl, and whilst I felt no rapport there was nothing about him that creeped me out. But when dh suggested this (in 1993) I was just Ain't Happening.

SpringFan · 18/10/2019 08:51

Not a name hate, but my DH suggested that Cameron or Alaister were too Scottish sounding and then suggested Andrew! Could not worked out why I laughed.
(NB. His dad was from Northumberland and he has a Scots surname)

icannotremember · 18/10/2019 08:43

Ramirez.

We are British and Polish. Our surname is long and Polish. He seriously wanted to call ds2 Ramirez. Did not understand my refusal to consider it.

funkt · 18/10/2019 08:40

@Sforsh49 precisely. A Karen is a specific type of person, and anybody named that will always be that type of person. I felt like I didn't need that type of person embodied as a three year old.

OP posts:
Keepyourginup · 18/10/2019 07:49

Gordon!

ceebeejeebies · 18/10/2019 07:36

My ex liked Kendrick for a boy... there was absolutely no way it was ever going to happen Confused
My dad wanted to call me Zeus (pronounced zee-us Grin) or blade, I'm so happy I was born a girl and given a slightly more conventional name.

Yeahnahyeah1 · 18/10/2019 07:26

Briony, Erica and Hannah. I hate them all 🤦🏼‍♀️

Sforsh49 · 18/10/2019 07:24

@funkt Karen? You never see a baby called Karen. It is a rank you earn!

Thegracefuloctopus · 18/10/2019 06:40

Atlas for a boy Hmm
