Stuck on middle name

It's sort of a tradition in my family to use your Grandparents name as the middle name. I'm 100% set on the first name Rose but I'm really struggling with the middle as I don't like either of mine or my DH grandma's name. Which do you think sounds best??

Rose Ivy
Rose Doreen
Rose Joyce

Thanks for any input! Smile

Maybe go for 2 middle names if you need your granny's names?

Rose Elizabeth Joyce
Rose Amelia Ivy
Rose Emily Doreen

Etc.
I agree that maybe on their own they don't flow that well.

Rose Joyce or Rose Ivy I think are really nice. If we have a DD (hopefully later today/tomorrow, off to be induced later this morning!) we'll have a "XXX Joyce" OHs grandmothers name. It's not 100% what I'd pick but i like that it has meaning! Good luck OP.

Rose Joyce sounds too much like Rolls Royce

Ivy doesn't sound good

Doreen - just no

What's the fourth grandmothers name?

Personally I'd throw tradition to the wind! Or pick a nice surname if there is one in the family, or pick a nice name of a great grandmother

Quite like Rose Joyce or Rose Ivy. Less keen on Doreen though I'm afraid.

pollywobble · 17/10/2019 04:48

Of the three then OP it would be Ivy but Rose Ivy doesn't scan well.Do you like Rosanna??
Is there a way to adapt one of their surnames, instead?

LauraHN95 · 17/10/2019 03:35

I know the floral themes are strong! Doreen is a type of rose too.. I don't like the variations because it's not their name. The only other option I have is my Auntie who passed which is Karen but again I'm not a fan of this name either, although I like Karen Rose just not vice versa

None are great but I would choose Rose Ivy as the best. It actually sounds very sweet even though a little strong on the florals!

Is a variation on one of the names a possibility? - ie Dorothea or Doria instead of Doreen. Or Ivette instead of Ivy? Or could you use one of their middles names?

LauraHN95 · 17/10/2019 03:24

@pollywobble None isn't an option I have though, it is a family tradition i would like to follow and I don't have anymore Grans haha
