How about Hugo? I think that goes well with Isaac.

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 18/10/2019 15:03

I like xander Flynn

MissHenty · 18/10/2019 11:10

Sorry I forgot to tag you @Lisajg23

MissHenty · 18/10/2019 11:09

I think Xander and Flynn are really nice.

I love Alexander myself but yes it will get shortened to alex so if you don’t like that don’t chose it

Xander/zander is really nice and will not get shortened to alex

If your Dh has gone off Rowan and you never liked the spelling of that name anyway how about:

Flynn Xander/Zander
Or
Xander/Zander Flynn

I personally would spell Xander with an “X” as that’s the more natural spelling. It’s a great name and well outside the top 100 so he’s very likely to be the only one in his class.

Lisajg23 · 18/10/2019 10:54

@Misshenty

Thank You, yes we have 2 weeks left to register him then they threaten to prosecute!
Although dh has now just said he has gone off Rowan! 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

He now likes zander!
We did have xander on our boys list when expecting neve.

My dad is Alexander. i do quite like the name, But i woukd not want the shortening of Alex.
Although I do quite like Zander/xander.

Maybe we will have to flip a coin or pick names out of a hat at this rate.

Isaac, neve and zander/xander
Isaac, neve and Flynn

Xx

Sorry meant to tag you @Lisajg23

....And thank you for updating us on your choice - I love hearing what people decide but it’s rare people come back to tell us xx

MissHenty · 18/10/2019 10:28

Flynn Rowan is gorgeous

Welcome to the world little Flynn ❤️

Isaac, Neve and Flynn sound great together

Are you being hassled by the council to register him now OP? Well done for choosing - boys names are HARD!! Now time to buy a dog and call her Talia perhaps

Lisajg23 · 18/10/2019 09:17

Thank you everyone for all your comments and suggestions.

Think we are going to go with Flynn Rowan x

Lulabud1 · 17/10/2019 20:28

I like xander you suggested. I have a name list that I add to constantly some unusual ones which I appreciate aren’t to everyone’s taste are;
Kyon, kyan , kion , keon , rehon

Jebb jett kit maxx cobey Lyle x

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 17/10/2019 20:17

Sorry i get carried away with name threads, i also have 3 children and will not be having any more, but i have 1 boy 2 girls but i think because I have used the same names I've thrown myself completely head first into this. You have got a list of great names, when you hit on the right one you will know x

MissHenty · 17/10/2019 19:08

Flynn is on a downward trajectory and there was only around 200 babies named Flynn last year. There was over three times as many Rowan’s and that’s not even including the numbers of Rohan’s (plus the similar name RoMan). And Roman and Rowan are on huge upward trajectory (over 2000 babies last year)

If you’re concerned about Sonnys popularity, the ONS numbers show Rowan is currently more popular than Sonny (even without including the numbers for Rohan), and is climbing more quickly too.

I agree with you @ OP - naming baby boys is so hard!! Your girls names are gorgeous, very unusual but not whacky x

For what it’s worth I really live River (nickname Riv) too

Lisajg23 · 17/10/2019 18:17

@PandasMum

Thank you for the info x

Flynn River [surname]

Lowlandlucky · 17/10/2019 17:55

Flynn

Lisajg23 · 17/10/2019 17:54

@Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav

Ronan Flynn does sound nice!

Mmm river, I will give it some thought. I thought it was too hippy to go with the other names that are quite traditional really. Not sure about silas.

I know, I do love talia, but alas it wasn't meant to be, no more babies for me x

@leopardprintboots

Ahh thank You, sadly I will never get to use them. As this will be our last baby, Sadie is very cute and means princess in Hebrew 💖

Im a indecisive person anyway, but after the shock of an emergency c section after normal births and a boy! I seem to have become even more indecisive and scatter brained than usual!

What do you think of xander/zander, it has been thrown around, after my dad alexander. My mun would be delighted. But i wouldnt want alex though.

thanks for your help x

For what it’s worth I actually think River, Isaac and Neve actually work well together. I know they’re different styles of name but I like that. It’ll be rare as they get older that you’ll say the names all together that often anyway

How about Silas? That’s a very old traditional name like Isaac and is outside the top 100

Will keep thinking.

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 17/10/2019 17:30

Ronan flynn sounds great 😊

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 17/10/2019 17:29

I love the name talia. I honestly think Ronan is a good alternative to Rowan as it less popular, it fits with Isaac and neve and as much as i like the name Rowan the only two i know (other than the actor) are female

Leopardprintboots · 17/10/2019 17:26

@Lisajg23 ah those are gorgeous girls names. I particularly love Sadie. The other two names are pretty rare, ive never heard them before. They’re lovely.

Yes Sonny is more popular than most of your other choices (at no 99) so I’m not surprised that there’s a few you know already. Although Sonny is actually less popular than Rowan and is climbing less quickly up the charts so I’d factor that in to your choice.

Tricky one.

Lisajg23 · 17/10/2019 17:19

@leopardprintboots

Well me had three, Talia, Taya or Sadie.
Dh liked talia best so we were probably going to go with that.

I wasn't keen on Brodie, although Scottish it sounds American to me.

I do like sonny, but quite a few in school i know of. Also was unsure it would suit a man. Very cute for little boy.

River I don't mind but I don't think it goes with Isaac and Neve at all.
I don't actually know of any Rowans at my son's school but I'm sure there will be some soon x

ThisLittlePiggyWentTo · 17/10/2019 17:11

Both lovely but I think Flynn. What about Fynn? Rufus? Oscar?

Brodie has a totally different feel to your names to me. Doesn't suit at all. Same with Sonny to be honest.

Leopardprintboots · 17/10/2019 17:06

What was your girls name that you had sorted out of interest @Lisajg23

Leopardprintboots · 17/10/2019 17:05

Yes RoNan is much less popular. Only 130 babies given this name last year. Number 350 in the name charts. I think it’s similarity to the v popular Roman would put me off using it as people will mishear it and assume they heard “Roman” as it’s becoming so popular after so many famous Roman’s appeared into public eye in last 2 years

CatteStreet · 17/10/2019 17:03

Rowan.

Flynn's awful. Sorry.
