Tyne. I've never heard teen. Maybe it's a regional thing?

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 18/10/2019 08:42

My grown DD is called Clementine.

I would say this is not a factual poll

99% of the time people pronounce it Tyne- we are in the UK

I do get lots of compliments on her name-and lots of ppl saying they'd have used it "if they were brave enough" Hmm

RainbowBlanket · 18/10/2019 08:19

Apolloanddaphne · 16/10/2019 19:55

I would say Tyne.

INeedSleepToo · 16/10/2019 19:53

Thanks for the Mark Owen link. I’d forgotten how completely bloody gorgeous he was.

123Dancewithme · 16/10/2019 19:50

Tyne

diddlediddle · 16/10/2019 17:00

I believe it's teen in the U.K. and tyne in the US

Pemba · 16/10/2019 15:04

Oh I thought the fruit was always -teen.

The girls' name can be either teen or tyne.

BowiesJumper · 16/10/2019 13:35

Teen.
I think tyne is the US pronunciation?

This was on my girls name list but partly discounted for this reason!

RebeccaCloud9 · 16/10/2019 13:20

Teen the fruit

Tyne the girl

Ktay · 16/10/2019 13:18

Another teen here

DisappointingBanana · 16/10/2019 13:15

I’ve only ever heard it as Tyne (and know 2 who pronounce it like that), but teen gives it a nice exotic forrin twist!

daisypond · 16/10/2019 12:43

Teen. Like Churchill’s wife. It’s a French name like Josephine. But there’s no logic if or when it might change pronunciation. Tyne would be for Australia or America.

Sux2buthen · 16/10/2019 11:08

@notso that's stuck in my head nowGrin

AudacityOfHope · 16/10/2019 11:07

The one I know is tyne.

That Mark Owen song is 😱

user1493494961 · 16/10/2019 11:00

Tyne.

Rainbowhairdontcare · 16/10/2019 08:29

In the US it's "Tyne" oh my darling ClemenTYNE

AthollPlace · 16/10/2019 08:28

Like the song, Clemen-tyne.

Danglingmod · 16/10/2019 08:26

I know two, both "teen." I would have said "teen" anyway.

snottysystem · 16/10/2019 08:26

OP a similar french names is Clement

snottysystem · 16/10/2019 08:24

I always assumed the name was French so therefore teen?
