Which of these 3 girl names?

Appreciate your thoughts please. Middle names will be 'Paige Michelle' (I like paige but michelle is after DH's deceased sister)

Amelie - always liked this but wondered if too popular now. Also my (non-pregnant) sister has 'reserved' the name Amelia so would mean having to speak with her about it.

Ophelia - love it but unsure if nicknames

Seren - DH is welsh. Quite a popular name thereby we live in london

Thanks!

I like Ophelia but not sure it really goes with the middle names. Agree nns may be tricky.

Seren is very pretty and goes well with the middle names. Nice to honour the welsh heritage. I do also really like Serena.

Amelie will get lost amongst all the amelias and I agree with pp that it sounds a bit affected if you're not french. Plus it'll cause you family tension!

Absolutely hate Seren. Harsh sounding horrible name

Amelie and Ophelia are gorgeous

arabicenglishbabynames · 20/10/2019 12:02

I like all 3! Can’t help

arabicenglishbabynames · 20/10/2019 12:00

*quite

Acaibowl · 20/10/2019 11:59

I prefer Serena to Seren.

I like Amelie too.

Ophelia is also nice but I’d say quote out there and may raise eyebrows.

december20100 · 18/10/2019 13:41

Ophelia for me

KindnessCrusader · 17/10/2019 07:34

Of the 3 Seren is my favourite.

071019DD · 17/10/2019 06:22

Ophelia and Seren, both GORGEOUS. Great choices OP.

DramaAlpaca · 16/10/2019 22:59

Not Ophelia. Too tragic an association & scope for teasing. Amelie only sounds nice if you happen to have a French accent.

So that leaves Seren, but I prefer Serena - which also sounds better with the middle names.

Lisajg23 · 16/10/2019 22:37

I like seren best and beautiful meaning star x

Passthewipes · 16/10/2019 22:25

Love them all, but from what you say, you may as well discount Amelie and Amelia, Seren is lovely....I know only one. Ophelia also lovely ... Can't think how you would shorten though, but does that bother you? Seren could end up being called Ren, and Ophelia .... Ophe (offee)...Phe?
Good luck

Lizbot2 · 16/10/2019 19:29

My favourite here is Ophelia x

Shadow1234 · 16/10/2019 15:14

Seren is lovely.

spice3 · 16/10/2019 14:51

Another vote for Seren!

Andahelterskelterroundmylittle · 16/10/2019 10:27

🙄All pretty but Ophelia could mean a lifetime of torturous smutty innuendo ... possibly you live in a classier area tho ?

bridgetreilly · 16/10/2019 10:17

I'm afraid I would be starting again with a new list. I don't really like any of your options.

0DimSumMum0 · 16/10/2019 10:01

I like Seren then Ophelia. They are both very pretty.

Haworthia · 16/10/2019 09:55

Amelie is a bit 10-15 years ago, if that sort of thing would bother you Smile It’s also WAY too close to Amelia if your sister has her heart set on it.

Seren doesn’t really go with your middle names IMO. That leaves Ophelia, which is nice enough, and very unusual. I’ve never met one.

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 16/10/2019 09:52

I considered seren for my daughters so that would get my vote
There's quite a few amelie's local to me and not too keen on ophelia, not for any reason other than how it sounds

Mum2b2020 · 16/10/2019 09:50

Thanks everyone. That's given me something to think about. I'm quite surprised so many like Seren as I'm a little unsure.

Seren is the current Shannon or Karen or Sharon.
It will date badly.

Amelie became popular because of the film.

MissHenty · 16/10/2019 08:14

Ps. As far as I’m concerned Amelie isn’t very popular. It’s number 80 in the names lists (the name is only given to a pretty musicule 0.1% of all babies), and it’s numbers have been declining since 2012 (7 years!) it’ll probably be out the top 100 in a couple of years on current trajectory

MissHenty · 16/10/2019 08:11
  • yet not yes
MissHenty · 16/10/2019 08:11

Really don’t like Seren. Harsh sounding and sounds unfinished to my ears (sorry I know it’s a welsh word). Would hate it if it were my name

Love Ophelia and Amelie. Yes meaning of Ophelia isn’t great but your daughter will write her own story and give the name a fresh meaning to you. Doubt many people have any idea about the meaning of names. I’ve just realised I’ve never even checked the meaning of my own name 🤣 yes I’m a name obsessive when it comes to baby names

Inlovewitharagorn · 16/10/2019 08:10

Seren is beautiful.
Amelie is lovely too though I do know a lot.
Ophelia should be lovely but I think the "I feel ya" could lead to teasing.
