Down to three girls names .

After many many lists and deliberations we think we are down to three names but I find I swing between them all and just can’t settle in one.

Elizabeth ( known as Libby)
Rachel
Isobel

What do you think? Any opinions gratefully received .

Elizabeth

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 18/10/2019 19:29

I have an Isabel so I'm biased. I think (so I'm told, so prepared to be told I'm wrong) that isobel is a more Scottish spelling.
I love Libby, the Kennedy family in neighbours were my favourite.
You don't get many Rachels these days, bit unsure on this one, the ones I know are my age (30's) or a bit older.
Were you thinking of a middle name?

diddlediddle · 18/10/2019 19:11

Isobel is so dull - there are a million squillion Isabelles/isabellas and Belles and bellas. Even if the popularity is declining slightly it's still very prominent. At least your spelling is better but she will be one of a crowd.

Elizabeth is nice but can't bear Libby, it sounds so wet.

Rachel is a lovely and underused name now. I'd definitely pick rachel.

aweedropofsancerre · 18/10/2019 18:04

The only Isobel I know is my gran. I have never met another spelt that way, isabella, Bella was popular ten years ago but not so much now . I would go for Isobel out of the three

Proseccoinamug · 18/10/2019 18:02

I love Libby / Elizabeth
Isobel

Not a fan of Rachel.

december20100 · 18/10/2019 15:25

Elizabeth is my favourite

Somanyreasons · 16/10/2019 20:29

I love all of these. Just wait and see what suits, you can’t go wrong.

Scottishgirl85 · 16/10/2019 20:26

Honestly can't tell you how popular Isobel is. It's made me hate the name! The last 3 colleagues at work to have a baby have all called them Isobel! I know about 10 under 5...

MrsReader · 16/10/2019 18:58

Elizabeth! Classy and grown up. And I love the nn Libby

Sparkle733 · 16/10/2019 17:55

Isobel

IrishMamaMia · 16/10/2019 17:52

I like Elizabeth Rachel, so classic

ritzbiscuits · 16/10/2019 07:00

Elizabeth, Betty for short!

Variation of Isobel/Isabel/Isabella/Bella are everywhere (very common around 5-6 year olds I know). Would completely avoid.

piratehooker · 16/10/2019 06:30

Rachel. Lovely, classic, pretty. Elizabeth is also pretty, but I do think there are nicer shorter versions than Libby.

TheWashingMachine · 16/10/2019 06:15

All super but Elizabeth wins with nn Libby.

MrsBertBibby · 16/10/2019 05:17

Elizabeth by some margin.
Isobel is nice but Izzy is really not.
Rachael is a very poor third.

notangelinajolie · 16/10/2019 01:51

Elizabeth because it is a beautiful classic name.

Astronica · 16/10/2019 01:22

All good names. I can see why it's hard to pick. I've always loved Rachael (for some reason spelt that way just appeals to me more). I like that Rachel is the least used of the 3, but also like Elizabeth/Libby. The popularity of Isobel does put me off a little, though still lovely.

PandasMum · 16/10/2019 00:14

I love Libby
Isobel is also lovely

PrincessLouis · 15/10/2019 22:38

Elizabeth because it’s an undisputed classic

Isobel is pretty but a bit ‘of the moment’

Not Rachel, there is Rachel from Friends which is an ok reference but otherwise it’s a bit Old Testament for me. The Rachel & Leah Centre in The Handmaid’s Tale is not a good reference

Youbethebadgirl · 15/10/2019 22:23

Rachel

Mirrors123 · 15/10/2019 22:19

Rachel is my favourite. I don't like Elizabeth, really common, reminds me of the Queen (although I like the Queen) but I really don't like Liz or Lizzy. Sounds old. I like Isobel and Izzy is nice for a little girl.

MyNewBearTotoro · 15/10/2019 22:15

Isobel is lovely. Izzy and Belle are both good shortenings too.

I like Elizabeth and there are lots of possible nicknames - Libby isn’t my personal favourite but is okay. I wouldn’t choose Elizabeth if you don’t like any of the other common nicknames (Liz/ Lizzie/ Beth) though as just because you want nn Libby doesn’t mean she won’t end up using another in the future.

I’m not keen on Rachel, I think it’s a bit dated and I don’t like the fact there aren’t any nice ways to shorten it.

Mildred007 · 15/10/2019 22:12

I like Elizabeth. Congratulations!

123Dancewithme · 15/10/2019 22:10

Rachel

chachachaa · 15/10/2019 21:02

Isobel
