Who wants to know if Danielle is ready for a comeback. I'm undecided. What do you think?

I like it. My girl has an 80s name :-)

Trinpy · 12/10/2019 18:48

No I like it. I dont think its chavvy at all. Sweet on a younger child, cool on a teenager, sensible enough for an adult. I like the name Daniella too. I dont think it sounds dated at all though it is unusual now so you won't get 3 in her class, which is always a bonus imo.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 12/10/2019 18:34

No in any form, unfortunately it is a bit C word for now. Although the thought of Dan-yell with a french accent sounds beautiful. But unless you're french it will rarely be said with a french accent so...

The variant Daniella reminds me straightaway of Daniella Westbrook and Dani of Dannii Minogue.....

Nonameyet1 · 12/10/2019 18:25

I haven’t heard it for ages but I quite like it. Yes why not bring it back.

CravingCheese · 12/10/2019 17:15

I prefer Daniela tbh.

Jellycat00 · 12/10/2019 09:35

I like it

123Dancewithme · 11/10/2019 16:37

Still too dated I think. Daniella/Daniela would work better nowadays.

FizzyGreenWater · 11/10/2019 14:59

No.

Naomimi · 11/10/2019 14:52

Also agree that Daniella is better.

Naomimi · 11/10/2019 14:51

I don’t like it, but it’s fine to use. Gabrielle or Raphaelle are nicer though.

fedup21 · 11/10/2019 14:38

However, her dad says Danny Elle and her mum Dan yell

Are you suggesting they are both wrong? How would you say it?!

GetTheSprinkles · 11/10/2019 14:35

Not for me. I also dont like the nicknames that come with it

helpmum2003 · 11/10/2019 14:13

It's a pretty name but still dated and a bit c I think. Daniella is lovely.

Gabriella?

TilandPop · 11/10/2019 14:09

I really like it

nikiti · 11/10/2019 14:07

Dani is nice name for girl! I met only very few girls with this name

PetraRabbit · 11/10/2019 11:34

I read an article yesterday saying it was a name "becoming extinct". A lot of the other names on the list were 90s girls' names that went from very popular top 20 or 30 type names to only 3 or fewer girls a year being called the name.
I'd be very very very surprised it if revived in the next 15 years. To stereotype massively but the hipsters won't go for it, the middle classes will see it as dated, the working classes prefer names ending in "ie" and young mums will see it as "their generation" not their baby's generation. For me that's a good reason to use it. It's nice.

MissHenty · 11/10/2019 09:35

I don’t especially like it but I don’t think it would stand out like a sore thumb

I know this is an awful thing to say and I hate myself for even thinking it but I would assume the family was a bit C word - please don’t attack me as I know this is a horrid and snobby reaction but I think many will have the same (unwanted) gut feeling/ reaction so wanted to let @Tillygetsit know.

AverageMummy · 11/10/2019 09:34

No

Nonnymum · 11/10/2019 09:28

I think it is a perfectly reasonable name. There is nothing wrong with it and tbh I've found many names that I like a lot less.

NameChange84 · 11/10/2019 09:27

Daniella would fit in better with all the Isabellas and Lily-Ellas. The Ella sound is still fairly on trend.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 11/10/2019 09:25

Yes it’s nice and refreshing

SaltedCaramelEverything · 11/10/2019 08:37

I really like it, always have. Think Elle is lovely as an nn. But also Dani too, lots of choice

ZaZathecat · 11/10/2019 08:11

But Dan-yell IS the correct pronunciation. French name, french sound.

Morado · 11/10/2019 08:02

I've never known a nice Danielle. Actually I do know one nice girl but she goes by Dani. Really don't like Danielle though!

Littlepond · 11/10/2019 06:33

I’ve never really known how to pronounce it! Danni-ell or Dan-yell? Either way I’m not sure I like it. Dani for a girl is cute tho!
