Daisie?

Is it ok to spell it like this instead of with a y? I don't know why but I just prefer it. I don't want to look too "try hard" though. Is it common to be spelt this way too or just weird?

To be fair though, I know a Hollie & it’s just her name. So people do get used to stuff.

There's a massive difference between Daisy/Daisie and Maisy/Maisie/Maisey since a daisy is an actual "thing", a flower, whereas Maisie is just a name (and originally a nickname at that).

I strongly believe Lily, Daisy, Poppy, Holly should be spelled properly because they are actual things, not "just" names.

It looks like Dai Sie rather than Day Say. If that makes sense.

But because Daisy is the accepted spelling for the flower, Daisie looks illiterate.

And I still stand by 'cute' being a negative.

I don't think it makes a difference as both y and ie sound the same. Maisie, Daisie, Millie sounds the same as Daisy, Milly, Maisy.

It makes me want to pronounce it incorrectly - sort of like Dais-ee, with the emphasis on the ending.

I think it's cute too. It's not as pretty with a Y, IMO.

However, I would still use Daisy for all the reasons other posters have already mentioned.

I suppose Daisie is like Hollie - I've seen plenty of those. I do much prefer Daisy and Holly though.

Daisy is the long established spelling of daisy. It’s not the same as maisy/Maisie.

It's fine.
If that's your preferred spelling then go for it.
People may spell it Daisy as that's the more common spelling, but there are lots of names that have different spellings.
I know a Maisy who always gets the spelling Maisie, but it's no big deal.
I certainly don't think it's weird to spell it Daisie.
The "ie" spellings do seem to be more popular now.
I know a lot more little ones called Hollie and Lucie than I do Holly and Lucy.

Don't like Daisie at all - Daisy is nice but the "ie" ending makes it prissy and just wrong IMO.
Could I add Posie, Heidi, Sadie and Haidee to the list of alternatives?

I like Dulcie! Not one I've actually come across on baby name pages. Thanks for the suggestion, will mention it to OHSmile

I wouldn't. I know there is a political correspondent called Daisy so it hasn't done her any harm but Daisy is nearly (nearly) too flippant and childish as it is without playing around with the spelling.

I'm not a total hardliner, I prefer Jillian to Gillian and I know a woman with a Linzey and I like both of those but Daisy has to stay Daisy.

Why don’t you just use Daisy? It’s such a pretty name. You might later wish you had used it rather than finding an alternative for the sake of the spelling, it’s not how you spell it it’s how you say it.
