We are struggling with names, what we like no one else seems to. We have mixed Cornish/Welsh heritage and would like a nature based name but looking for suggestions as we already have friends with Rose and Iris.

So far we have
Elowen - means Elm tree but no one seems to like it.
Derwa
Rozenwyn
Caja
Willow
Glesni (not strictly nature I know)
Seren
Eirian

I have a friend with a daughter Caja, she pronounces it Kai-ya, not to rhyme with badger!! It's a lovely name.

Your list is pretty awful, I'm not surprised people don't like them. Seren's about the best of the bunch.

Zanzan1 · 09/10/2019 20:55

Caja ha yes I did, must admit it was low on the list.

Fern was quite common when I was at school and I didn't like a girl called that but it is a lovely name. We really like the way Elowen is pronounced in America rather than the Cornish but we darent tell the grand parents that 😀

I love these names OP and have a DS with a Cornish name too so I’m always looking for beautiful Cornish girls names in case we have a DD!

I love the look of Caja but was out off by the pronunciation- did you know if rhymes with “badger”?

Seren and Elowen are lovely.

Always loved Rowan for a girl but nice for a boy too

Pointof0return · 09/10/2019 19:49

All your names are nice. Another one here for Fern too, I tried to call dd Fern, and ddog, DP refused

Peach1886 · 09/10/2019 19:18

Merlin - a bird - or the Welsh spelling Merlyn

Peach1886 · 09/10/2019 19:13

DS would have been Fern if he had been a DD, I love it.

We have a nature theme with our 2 girls, gone latin. Sylvia (woodland spirit) and Flora.
I think Elowen is gorgeous like willow too.
I liked Rowan and Rosa but was terrible with our last name also starting with R.
Grandparents didnt like our girls name and after our first we just didnt bother telling in advance. Grandparents now agree kids become their names and love the names now. Couldnt give a fig what people other than v close family think.

Fern

Roselilly36 · 09/10/2019 18:59

Azalea is a lovely name, very under used in the UK.

Peach1886 · 09/10/2019 18:55

Eira is Welsh for snow which would be lovely for a winter baby

I think Elowen is my favourite from your list, I like El/Elle as nn! Seren is the slightly safer option and is lovely too.

Princessfaffalot · 09/10/2019 18:53

I really like Elowen!

Why does it matter if other people don't like the names? Choose something you and her dad like.

Violet
Ashley
