So we are expecting DC2 and haven’t found out the gender. We have agreed on Thomas for a boy, but have no idea for a girl!

DD1 is Niamh if that helps?

I have recently had my own Niamh and while a bit premature, I thought it would be nice, should I have another daughter, to find a name that has a similar meaning. Niamh means bright and radiant so maybe look for names that have a similar meaning. Those I have found are listed below:

Anya
Clara
Elenor
Estelle
Lucy
Mariella
Nelle
Nora
Phoebe

They are lovely names but I would probably avoid things like Aoife and Phoebe, because the vowel sound is so similar to Niamh. My DP and I have names with similar vowels, despite being totally different otherwise - think Richard and Pippa - and it's weirdly impossible to tell who is being called from somewhere else in the house. Both of us turn up or neither! It's very weird.

That said, Aoife is lovely so I absolutely wouldn't blame you.

Thanks for your thread, I have a four week old Niamh, maybe I'll get to return to this list one day. Smile
