Really not a fan, especially not for a girl. I can't think of any positive associations for it at all.

Alicenwonderland · 07/10/2019 11:48

Agree to disagree Fizzy 😜🤣

FizzyGreenWater · 07/10/2019 11:46

And on one thread, that's my whole point!

I think we're probably all fairly clear that a fair hank of the population know what quim means.

Anyway Baby Quim - I mean Quinn - is never to be, so all is well.

NoSauce · 07/10/2019 11:37

20 posters is a fair amount when there’s only been 54 comments!

Alicenwonderland · 07/10/2019 11:30

20 Mumsnetters does not give an accurate reflection of society as a whole especially as a few of them mentioned they only heard it from Mumsnet! 🤣🤣🤣

FizzyGreenWater · 07/10/2019 09:14

In terms of Quim I honestly don't think that many people know what that means, it's a very old word and not really used nowadays so I think you'll be safe!

Lol when that post is literally surrounded by about 20 others saying 'but you can't because QUIM'

Grin
DappledThings · 07/10/2019 08:40

I also think quim and it's the reason I could never consider a Quinny buggy. I snigger every time I see one.

VenusClapTrap · 07/10/2019 00:14

Horrible

LivingDeadGirlUK · 06/10/2019 19:05

I like the name but its a baddies name in one of my fave books.

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 06/10/2019 19:03

Really don't like it. I know someone who called their baby this and it certainly hasn't grown on me since.

Zanzan1 · 06/10/2019 18:58

I know a girl called Quinn who is 18 months old. Never associated it with Quim. It suits her, and everyone likes it. It feels a bit more strong and independent than your Rosie and Evie's

Alicenwonderland · 06/10/2019 18:12

I like it as a name, it is very American. In terms of Quim I honestly don't think that many people know what that means, it's a very old word and not really used nowadays so I think you'll be safe! All of my four children have very unusual names, my eldest is 18 and it wasn't the thing back then but he loves his name. I really wouldn't ask what people think, if you like it go for it!

MollyHuaCha · 06/10/2019 15:09

20viona · 06/10/2019 14:50

RichPetunia · 06/10/2019 14:36

I like it

ThinkingIsAllowed · 06/10/2019 14:27

I like it, good for boys or girls

Rachelover60 · 06/10/2019 05:46

I looked up 'quim', I'd heard it before but wasn't sure if I was right about the meaning. I was! Well, you wouldn't call your child, "Minge" would you?

Quinn is sort of OK for a boy but not a girl. Quinn the eskimo etc.....maybe. Should be Inuit really.

Why do people have to choose such odd names anyway, there are plenty of good, classic and ordinary names around to choose from which won't cause embarrassment later on.

Aoibhneas · 06/10/2019 03:44

It's a bloody awful name

littleorangecat22 · 06/10/2019 03:34

I like it and it would not make me think of 'quim'

Astronica · 06/10/2019 03:14

I like Quinn.
