Aurora or Allegra?

DD has No name!
My favourite is Athena which DH thinks "doesn't sound like a name"

I also like aurora and allegra. I feel like Allegra is easier to pronounce but just feeling confused and hormonal. I like unusual names so allegra fits that more but finding it hard to let go of Athena!

Love them all!

Baguetteaboutit · 02/10/2019 18:27

I don't like Aurora. It's cute for a little girl but I wouldn't enjoy the Disney princess vibe as an adult. I prefer Allegra.

grumiosmum · 02/10/2019 18:23

And Athena is a 1970s poster business.

EssentialHummus · 02/10/2019 18:23

I like Aurora nn Rory.

grumiosmum · 02/10/2019 18:22

Allegra is the name of Boris Johnson's first wife.

Just saying.

ValancyRedfern · 02/10/2019 18:21

I like Allegra and Athena. Less keen on Aurora. Just sounds like a noise. Allegra and Athena are strong and powerful sounding names. I also love Ariadne which might suit your taste as well.

GaraMedouar · 02/10/2019 18:17

I like Athena, Allegra too - she would be Ally for short which is nice. I don’t like Aurora because I can’t say it with the two ‘r’ sounds between the vowels. I say it like Owowa!

JanewaysBun · 02/10/2019 18:14

Thanks all, Aurelia is quite nice it's so hard as we found DS' name in 2 mins and this is dragging on..

Love Aurora. Allegra sounds a bit hard edged to me. Athena was a poster shop back in the day so it's a no from me. I like Alethea too.

alexdgr8 · 02/10/2019 17:47

Aurora sound like cheap orange squash to me.
clover is the name of a cow.
Athena sounds good, Allegra is OK.
what about Althea, ~
Petronella, except re wyatt of course, re Boris Johnson.
Petrovna
Natasha

depending on your husband's name, sometimes versions of that can sound very distinctive, and a subtle link to the father, eg Nigella, Domenica, Simone, Nicola, Nicolette, Carla, Charlotte, Edwina, Harriet, Jacqueline, Francesca, ...

good luck. congrats,

MissHenty · 02/10/2019 17:36

What about

Ottilie
Aurelia
Clementine (Clemmie)

TheJoxter · 02/10/2019 17:32

I know a little girl called Amora which I think is lovely, it’s similar to the kind of names you like I think

userabcname · 02/10/2019 17:29

I prefer Aurora to Allegra and love Athena!

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 02/10/2019 17:26

Auroras to too much of a pretty princess name for me, but I think that both Allegra and Athena are strong feminine names, I really like them both! My DH has a work colleague named Athena, she's Greek, but it's definetly a proper name!

Gummibaerchen1 · 02/10/2019 17:24

Love Athena!

Out of the other two definitely Allegra.

JanewaysBun · 02/10/2019 17:23

I think it's an allergy Mediciene in the US apparently as learned that via Google but had never heard of it over here.

I just don't know if DH would come around to Athena if he heard it more. Additionally I like Daphne, Clover and Anastasia which he has vetoed. He suggested Eliza which is quite nice , Polly is nice too but we have a plain surname (jones) so I wanted something memorable fot her first name.

I like Allegra.

LauraPalmersBodybag · 02/10/2019 17:18

Allegra is a nice name, it’s unusual and would work on an adult. Despite the celestial connotation I’m afraid I now just think of aurora as a Disney princess name.

What other names do you like op?

OddBoots · 02/10/2019 17:17

If you want unusual then Allegra is the better one as Aurora is really popular at the moment. I agree with you that Athena is a great name but you have to both like it.

TheJoxter · 02/10/2019 17:17

Isn’t Allegra an allergy medicine?
I like Aurora but I LOVE Athena and it definitely is a name!
