Do you like the name?

Do you know anyone called Boudicca?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PenelopeFlintstone · 03/10/2019 10:09

Or ‘that is why’, I should have said.

PenelopeFlintstone · 03/10/2019 10:09

Boudicca and Boadicea are the same person. It's just a different pronunciation. Yes, I think that’s why the second one was brought into the thread.

MikeUniformMike · 03/10/2019 09:56

I quite like it. It's quite a lot to live up to though.

MrsTishellsNeckBrace · 03/10/2019 09:15

Are you considering the name to validate attaching tiny rotating knives onto her carriage wheels ? Historically incorrect carriage apparel allegedly, perhaps you should choose a name from the Roman Racing post instead.

Electrocute1980 · 03/10/2019 08:21

Me too @DramaAlpaca 😹

honeyalmondlatte · 03/10/2019 08:17

Boudicca and Boadicea are the same person. It's just a different pronunciation.

Anyway OP this post of obviously a poss take but it's a no from me. What about Victoria (same meaning - victory)?

StCharlotte · 03/10/2019 08:02

The lady in charge of SNARL which is the campaign about the Croydon Cat Killer is called "Boudicca Rising". I thought it was made up at first. I imagine her getting out of bed every morning going "RAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!".

It's hideous. Sorry.

twilightcafe · 03/10/2019 07:55

Boudicca was on DH's shortlist (of one) for DD.
He didn't get his way. Grin

Ugzbugz · 03/10/2019 07:51

Yes in horrid Henry, Google her

Branleuse · 03/10/2019 07:34

I LOVE IT. I still wish id used it for dd.

LucieFurr · 03/10/2019 07:33

No and no

megletthesecond · 03/10/2019 07:30

No, you can't use it.
Watch some horrible histories for a start. She didn't have a pleasant end.

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 03/10/2019 07:25

Icenit around from time to time...

Yaaaass!

Apart from the obvious huge NOPE for this name anyway, she would have people telling her constantly that the spelling/pronunciation of her name is 'wrong' etc as well (whichever you chose).

I think the PP above nailed it when they said 'would you want to be called Boudicca'?

PenelopeFlintstone · 03/10/2019 07:23

Boudicca, hell no. What about Boadicea?
I know one of these. Nicknamed Bo. Shy, quiet girl.

ifigoup · 03/10/2019 07:23

There’s one in my area. She’s an artisanal bread maker.

Naomimi · 03/10/2019 07:20

I know someone with a B.ouxdicea, Boux for short. Think it’s awful, quite honestly!

However you spell it, it’s a very “Look at me!” name — for the parents’ benefit... not so much for the child’s.

Velveteenfruitbowl · 03/10/2019 01:01

It’s not absolutely terrible (certainly better than all the Chantels and Eva-Raes our there) but not a great connotation. Maybe name her after someone with a happier life?

Graymare · 03/10/2019 00:57

Just NO.

raffle · 03/10/2019 00:55

Bo de see ah
Or
Boo dick ah
?

DramaAlpaca · 03/10/2019 00:52

Good grief, no.

And now I've got a Horrible Histories earworm Grin

KatherineJaneway · 02/10/2019 21:25

Just no.

Tavannach · 02/10/2019 21:20

Try the name test:

"Is Boudicca coming out to play?"
"I love you, Boudicca."
"Is Boudicca ready for promotion?"

Tavannach · 02/10/2019 21:17

Good name for a cat, "Boo" for short. For a child not so much.

sheshootssheimplores · 02/10/2019 21:15

Jesus Christ NO. Call your bloody children normal names FFS. They’re not pets. They will be adults with jobs one day.

AfterSchoolWorry · 02/10/2019 21:14

Reminds me of Bodacious.
