Classic but not overused girl names

DP and I like Olivia and Grace but I just can't settle on either because I think they are so overused. I want her to have something more unique as that will be nicer for her when she's older. Dp is stuck on Olivia and Grace.

My suggestions, vetoed by dp 🙄

Verity (love this name)
Margot
Violet
Eleanor
Viola
Liberty

Any ideas?

And is it your surname that begins with a B? :)

Because if he's a dp then the choices are yours, and I guess you could very kindly offer to give the baby his surname if you're going to be choosing Verity...

Im an Alice and lots of twatty old men would sing 'who the fuck is Alice' and everyone else would say 'are you Alice in Wonderland?' To be honest it just made it clear they were horrible people straight away! I don't get it much now as the name is more common and I say sarcastically 'Ive never heard that before, you're so funny' which usually shuts people up.

NoSauce · 25/09/2019 05:10

Janine???
Is that a typo!

I don’t think of Grace and Olivia as classics. They will date soon enough. I don’t think Isabella is a classic either though but I do love it.

Florence, Jemima, Madeleine ( I’ll ignore the McCann comment ) Beatrix, Juliet, Harriet, Posy would go nice with Isabella.

I like Calister and Persephone.

I have an uncommon name, neither of the above, and have always loved my name and the fact that there are not many others called it. I didn't meet anyone with the same name til was in my 30s. I would agree a unique name would be nice when she's older, that's always been my experience

We like classic names. On our shortlist but didn’t get used were:

Harriet
Lucinda
Henrietta
Jessica (quite popular though)
Lucille
Penelope (gaining popularity)

I hear Grace a lot, sorry

Moomin8 · 24/09/2019 21:35

I'm sorry, but Alice always makes me think 'who the fuck is Alice?' probably showing my age a bit there though 🤦‍♀️

No, I also remember this!! But I think by now it's (somewhat forgotten)

I like Madeleine but associate it with McCann 😢

There are some weird suggestions for 'classic' on here.

Moomin8 · 24/09/2019 21:24

I really like Beatrice / Beatrix but surname will begin with B so don't think it will go.
