@MisfitPuddleduck with the current fashion being to try and be as unique as possible, these would be rare names in a school. Seth is 0.06% of babies
Even Joseph is at 0.3% so not even averaging one child in an entire secondary school year group

So the charts position doesn’t bother me in the slightest

@happycamper11 just one of those things I guess - loads of Ralphs pronounce it Rafe

Ohyesiam · 27/09/2019 06:26

Monty sounds like a pet/joke name to me.
When I grew upon the 80s there was some comedy sketch (billy Connolly?) where Ralph was used as a vomiting sound. So it’s a no from me.

wichitalinemanswoman · 27/09/2019 06:19

I have a Seth. Best name ever

s3tut0y3r · 26/09/2019 21:26

I love Joseph.

I know it's not on your list, but what about Edmund? This us a similar type name...

MikeUniformMike · 26/09/2019 18:49

Ralph Vaughan-Williams is pronounced Rafe.

happycamper11 · 26/09/2019 18:37

Hoe on earth is Ralph pronounced raffe? There's an L? I like Ralph I also don't mind raffe but I'd spell it that way

Letthemysterybe · 26/09/2019 17:44

Benjamin is the best.

Newking · 26/09/2019 17:32

I like Ralph but since being on MN I've learnt it's meant to be pronounced Rafe

Unless you're over 50. Then you pn like Ralph.

CocoLoco87 · 26/09/2019 16:32

I love Joseph, Henry and Benjamin.
I like Ralph but since being on MN I've learnt it's meant to be pronounced Rafe Confused

I don't mind Zachary.

Not keen on Monty or Seth.

Newking · 26/09/2019 16:22

^I think of a couple of hamsters when I think of Ralph and Monty as a pair Grin

ShivD · 26/09/2019 15:40

Ralph and Monty are my favourites Grin

MisfitPuddleduck · 26/09/2019 13:47

Probably an unpopular opinion but I don't particularly like any of them (minus Zachary as I have a friend with that name spelt Zakari and its a nice name). I prefer uncommon names, where my children would hopefully be the only one with that name in their school etc

Newking · 26/09/2019 13:40

Ralph - The sound makes me think of puking
Joseph - Ok
Benjamin - OK
Seth - Emmerdale Farm. Old farmer name.
Henry - Fine
Monty - Ridiculous
Zachary - Ok

tisonlymeagain · 26/09/2019 12:34

Ralph - Not keen but clouded by knowing one
Joseph - A bit meh
Benjamin - Ditto
Seth - Like a lot
Henry - Nothing to dislike, classic
Monty - I like Monty but generally reserved for the upper middle class mums around here
Zachary - Not keen but don't dislike Zac

Whattodoabout · 26/09/2019 12:32

Ralph- it’s a bit wet, like Ralphie from the simpsons
Joseph - plain but classic and inoffensive, I doubt it will ever go out of fashion
Benjamin - also plain and inoffensive
Seth- quite like it
Henry - love it
Monty - 100% fuck no
Zachary- again, plain and inoffensive

I’d use Henry.

Cherrybomb124 · 26/09/2019 11:06

I actually really like Monty as a shortened version of Montague. Like Seth and Ralph to.

Couchbettato · 26/09/2019 09:33

I can't stand Henry. It's overused. And it just makes me think of Henry hoovers. Seth and Ralph both sound like sounds I made throwing up throughout my pregnancy. Monty is an animals name. Joseph is OK, but it's just OK. I don't hate it but I wouldn't use it. And Zachary would get shortened to Zak, and again, think it's just OK.

Namaste6 · 25/09/2019 23:55

Like them all OP, except Seth (sounds too meh), Monty (silly name) and Zachary (been done to the death).

KronksSpinachPuffs · 25/09/2019 23:20

Ralph - too posh
Joseph - not keen very plain
Benjamin - love
Seth - really like
Henry - really like
Monty - too posh but I would genuinely love it for a dog like a little spaniel or beagle or something
Zachary - really like zach

AverageMummy · 25/09/2019 22:24

@missmouse101 lots pronounce it ‘rafe’

OP posts:
mamaoffourdc · 25/09/2019 21:46

I have a Seth ❤️

Starlive23 · 25/09/2019 21:14

Ralph is just Ralph Wiggum from the Simpsons but the rest are all nice. Not baby Ralph though!

missmouse101 · 25/09/2019 21:02

Surely there's only one way to pronounce Ralph? Ralf?

midsomermurderess · 25/09/2019 20:57

Joseph is the only stand out for me.
