Love Emmett. Great name. In fairness Ernest is a good solid name so unless your surname is Pemmett or Pernest you can't go wrong 😂

ladmum · 24/09/2019 10:28

I like Emmett there is good baby name website you could try www.simplybabynames.com

VenusClapTrap · 24/09/2019 10:26

Ernest. Fine name.

Jellycat00 · 24/09/2019 09:03

I'm not a fan of either to be honest, but Emmett if i had to pick. Ernie as a shortening is pretty unappealing!

MrsP2015 · 24/09/2019 08:47

Ernest as there are only those 2 choices!

Would worry the other would sound like a girl when shortened Em/ Emmy etc

Grufallosfriends · 24/09/2019 08:18

Those saying 'neither' aren't exactly helping the op in her decision to choose between the two names Wink!

I prefer Ernest. Strong classic name.

MrsBertBibby · 24/09/2019 06:46

Neither, sorry!

IncrediblySadToo · 24/09/2019 00:23

Ernest out of the two, but neither would be names I’d choose - but he’s not my baby, so 🤷🏻‍♀️

123Dancewithme · 24/09/2019 00:15

Ernest out of the two. How about Everett?

diddlediddle · 23/09/2019 18:13

Ernest by a country mile

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 23/09/2019 18:03

I like both. I think Ernest is more classic.

HamiltonBentley · 23/09/2019 12:07

Much prefer Ernest.

In Cornwall, an emmett is a derogatory term for tourists...

MissHenty · 23/09/2019 11:41

Sorry meant to tag you @Buttonface9

MissHenty · 23/09/2019 11:41

I really like both of them

Ernest probably pips it because nn will be easier and better

Can you let us know which you chose @

Grufallosfriends · 23/09/2019 11:27

Ernest is a great name! Strong, classic and timeless.

IckleBear · 23/09/2019 11:23

Ernest

Astronica · 23/09/2019 00:32

I prefer Ernest.

Derbee · 23/09/2019 00:05

Poor child Confused

Buttonface9 · 22/09/2019 22:58

Thanks for opinions, we knew the names wouldnt be for everyone! Think I'm swaying towards Ernest.

Ernest is lovely. I also like Eric and Edgar but am not a fan of Emmett.

glitterbiscuits · 22/09/2019 21:59

Have you got anything in third place?

user1493494961 · 22/09/2019 21:52

Not much to choose between them in terms of dreadfulness.

MikeUniformMike · 22/09/2019 20:45

Ernest is slightly less dreadful than Emmett.
Elliott is nicer.

Iliada · 22/09/2019 19:26

Emmett a million times.

It makes me think of Doc Brown from ‘Back To The Future’, who was a cool, clever guy. The image I have of young Emmett is of being highly intelligent, with a great sense of humour and a slightly kookie style of dressing.

Not so keen on Ernest, except if you are a huge Oscar Wilde fan. In which case, naming him Ernest might be highly important to you!

FizzyGreenWater · 22/09/2019 19:04

I think of Emmett Till which is just too sad an association for me. So Ernest, but as names neither of them really appeal.
