Boy/girl twins. What goes with....

Max.

We thought we had two girls. So had kind of matchy style names (Camille and Claudia) in the pipeline.

Neither of those is the girls' name I love, but I kind of didn't mind because there were two, so it wouldn't be like one had my favourite name over the other. I like both the names, but no more than like.

Now it's turned out they're definitely boy/girl. So the boy will be Max. And I can't think of anything I like other than the name I can't have, now it's only one girls name I need. (It's been what my daughter has always been called in my head for the last 20yrs, and literally a year ago, this bitch who's connected directly to our family stole it, and yes I am fucking bitter) Spam me with names that go with Max please. Help me find something I love...

Oh, I quite like Minnie. But maybe as a nickname. Apart from Minerva (too Harry Potter) what would you shorten to Minnie?

I like the name Honor but I think together it sounds a bit like Max and Donna.

Saskia and Max, Claudia and Max both lovely.

But my favourite is Phillippa/ Pippa/ Pip. All beautiful and go with Max. Max and Pippa just sounds perfect as a pair to me.

Max & Saskia are great names. I know siblings called Saskia & Max and they are both very cool, both in their 20's now.

NameChange30 · 26/09/2019 13:34

Op that comment was to Hah not you

Mimosa1 · 26/09/2019 12:30

Stop telling people the names you want to use!!

  1. I didn't. Someone else told that woman.
  2. These are now all names that are of secondary value, none are of relevance, I'm just getting opinions on whatever else she ends up being called. I literally couldn't give a flying fuck if someone I know "took" any of them.

But thanks Hmm

Hah2284 · 26/09/2019 09:08

I kinda get where your coming from, not quite to that extent but I've had my girls name picked out for over 15 years and couldn't imagine using any other name and have had 2 people use it when hearing it from me (I've since learnt not to tell People ha) neither are that close that I couldn't use it anymore but it would be really annoying as they are close enough that it would seem I've copied them even through both have said they didn't think of the name before I mentioned it, the one had already chosen a different name and was going to register the baby the following day and changed it last minute Angry ironically since finding out I'm pregnant I have gone off the name a little only because it doesn't go with out boy choice.
DH's ex who he's quite friendly with still has named her son the same as we've picked as well which is quite annoying. I can't blame her too much as I don't think she knew we were set on that one but it's quite rare to hear where we are from so it's annoying, however we will still use it.

I like

Genevieve
Gwendoline

Max and Heloise
Max and Clemence

But I really love Honor!

NameChange30 · 25/09/2019 17:13

I know it's a bit hypocritical to say this (given that I'm a stranger giving my opinion) but I advise you not to discuss your name shortlist with family and friends. I know everyone is interested and you probably want some validation of the name you end up choosing. But the problem with discussing it in real life is that you can be too influenced by the opinions of loved ones (hopefully it wouldn't bother you so much if one or two Mumsnetters weren't keen). And you do also run the risk of someone else "stealing" the name although you know that now!

The only opinions that matter are yours and your partner's. Everything else is a bonus. Apart from if the name is truly hideous in which case mumsnetters will tell you Wink
