Boy/girl twins. What goes with....

Max.

We thought we had two girls. So had kind of matchy style names (Camille and Claudia) in the pipeline.

Neither of those is the girls' name I love, but I kind of didn't mind because there were two, so it wouldn't be like one had my favourite name over the other. I like both the names, but no more than like.

Now it's turned out they're definitely boy/girl. So the boy will be Max. And I can't think of anything I like other than the name I can't have, now it's only one girls name I need. (It's been what my daughter has always been called in my head for the last 20yrs, and literally a year ago, this bitch who's connected directly to our family stole it, and yes I am fucking bitter) Spam me with names that go with Max please. Help me find something I love...

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I really don't get this name stealing thing.

It wasn't until I joined MN that I realised that some people get really uppity and upset if someone else calls their child the name that they had chosen. I had honestly never heard of this before.

I called my children what I wanted to call them, and it didn't matter that others had chosen the same names. Nor did it worry me when people called their babies the names I chose for mine.

Call your daughter the name you have always wanted for a girl. You might never have another daughter.

WatchingFriendsOnRepeat · 02/11/2019 23:41

In fact now I'm thinking about Max for the boy baby I'm carrying... hmmmm... thanks OP!

WatchingFriendsOnRepeat · 02/11/2019 23:41

I love Teddie/Teddy for a girl. I have a boy called Teddy but if he had been a girl, it still would've been Teddie!

WatchingFriendsOnRepeat · 02/11/2019 23:38

Max and Eden
Max and Iris
Max and Poppy
Max and Delilah
Max and Ruby (I actually know a Max and Ruby, brother and sister, and they are my favourite kids out of all my friends' kids)
Max and Isabelle

Courtney555 · 02/11/2019 20:23

@harriet

I wouldn't think of that being shortened to Tanya, more Tatti (Tatty) or Ana (oh hell no)

Vivienne is really pretty but DH doesn't like it because of the forehead studded Ade Edmondson Hmm

Can you think of anything similar to Tatiana? I think we're on similar wavelengths...

OP posts:
HarrietM87 · 02/11/2019 19:39

Tatiana (nn tanya) is like Anastasia without the Ana.

Or Vivienne?

BelfastmummyL · 01/11/2019 22:46

Sorry to break with the trend here but I think you are putting way to much emphasis on a name here.i don't want to offend but at the end of the day 2 healthy well children are a real gift and so what if you can't use a name you always liked. There are loads of beautiful names out there and I definately wouldn't chose to give her the same name as her cousin. I do know couple of families who did this and there is a lot of bad feeling.

On a positive note.. My first instinct to go with max was Emily. I see a couple of others have suggested similar or if you like French variations what about Amalie or the more English Amelia or even Emme?

Max and Eleanora/Nora

I'm not keen on Max and Saskia. I think the x in Max and the sk is Saskia are clunky together.

Poppyfields21 · 01/11/2019 15:42

Alexandra with nn of Sasha?
Otherwise I would suggest Seraphina/Seraphine

Courtney555 · 01/11/2019 15:35

"Lucinda don Karenza" will be the villain in my book, should I ever write one Grin

That wasn't meant to be some kinda of mafia name Grin

itsgettingweird · 01/11/2019 15:29

Oh yes love the suggestion of Natasha above.

I also like Lucinda don Karenza.

@Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav

Honor is not liked by DH or DM. I was warming to it, but it's a definite no from both of them. Having said that, DH has got pretty bad taste in names and wouldn't like any on the shortlist. He would rather Max be changed to Ezra (I mean, Christ!) and comes out with things such as Mya, Mia, and even Kaziyah for the girl (Christing Christ!)

I'll be putting my foot down, I can't stand the overused trendy "names of the day".

Saskia, it's sort of 80% there. Sass is a bad shortening of it. Kiki as a nn hadn't occurred to me but is worse than Sass Confused

Anastasia I really like, if that's a help. Very pretty and twinkly. Also Annabel. But the old scrubber woman in question is called Anna. So, frustratingly, it's a huge no to anything that can be shortened to that name Blush

Anything like Anastasia without the Ana?

And also, as it was mentioned so far back now, our surname is very akin to Bellsley. So Helena, Elle, Isabel, anything like that isn't going to work.

When people ask, they are now commonly referred to as "Max" and "Not Max" Hmm

Cbeebiesrehab · 01/11/2019 11:26

**Safiyah

Cbeebiesrehab · 01/11/2019 11:23

I have fallen in love with the name Safiya (Sa-fye-uh not Sapphire) and could be shortened to Saffy.
I totally get why you’re so upset OP, names are so important to me and I would be hurt by that tooFlowers I’m sure when you find ‘the name’ you will love it even more than ‘Evangeline’

itsgettingweird · 01/11/2019 11:19

Max and Anastasia

Max and Phoebe

Max and Emmeline

Max and Francis

Max and Evie

I understand why it's hard to not be able to use a name you've loved for 2 decades. But remember your DS will be your fabulous DD regardless of name.

justilou1 · 01/11/2019 11:11

Saskia always reminds me of the muse that famous artists and musicians in the nouveau monde were madly in love with but could never entirely grasp. She is mysterious, alluring and witty, but still knows her own power. She has a youthful vitality that lasts right through her very long life...

justilou1 · 01/11/2019 11:08

Max and Saskia?

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 01/11/2019 11:02

I've just gone back through the thread to look at the names you did like. Is honor now off the list? Out of the names you've just listed the only one I like is saskia sorry. Can you pinpoint what it is that puts you off, is it just the possibility the nickname could be sass?? How about Kiki as a nickname?

Courtney555 · 01/11/2019 09:53

Update...

Max and Saskia (still an option, there's just something not quite there with Saskia, but I'm getting bloody sick of looking at names)

Max and Hestia (again, nice enough, but just quite not there)

Max and Eurus (I like that, but it's nicked directly from Sherlock and is his crazy sister)

I'm so tired of finding "names that I can live with". Why can't anything jump out as lovely Sad
