I really like Renée and Indigo.

Geneva sounds very pretty in English but not sure how well it travels into other languages (and I don't mean Genf and Genève Grin), but the name itself.

I like Oakley and Indigo nn Indie!

Honeybee0 · 23/09/2019 21:19

Indigo = Inigo?

Geneva1995 · 23/09/2019 21:15

@lliada finally someone with the same taste! To be honest, I only spelt it ‘Renae’ rather than ‘Renèe’ just because I knew people would ask how I’d be pronouncing it.
My favourite name is Indigo so far but then swaying with Beatrix / Bea to be more traditional Confused

And thank you everyone else for your opinions!

Indigo - I really like this one. It’s definitely the coolest name on this list.
Renae - Agree with everyone that Renée is better. Love the meaning.
Oakley - I don’t love it.
Bessie - Cute.
Raina - I prefer Reina (queen).
Bea - Beatriz/Beatrix are awesome, and Bea is adorable.
Geneva - It’s a gorgeous name.

Out of all of these, you really can’t go very wrong. Lucky you!

FizzyGreenWater · 23/09/2019 17:41

Bea short for Beatrice is lovely, and Beatrice Geneva is really amazing - I would go for that!

Antonin · 23/09/2019 16:45

I like Geneva and the family connection but would use it for a second name or go for Genevieve to avoid confusion.
Indigo is a wee bit out there for me personally but ok if you anticipate your DD will be confident and outgoing — on a continuum with Scarlett and Blue.
Renae is ok and gets the pronunciation correct. In everyday life without the accent it is likely to be pronounced Ree Nee, which I think is awful.
Raina is also quite acceptable.
I don’t feel Oakley is a suitable name for a girl or woman.

Fivebeanchilli · 21/09/2019 10:01

Indigo - I quite like this. Indie is a cute NN.
Renae - it's ok but I wouldn't be sure how to pronounce it. Is it like Renée in Allo Allo?
Oakley - sorry but I think this is awful for a girl. It just reminds me of "Annie get your gun".
Bessie - I quite like this. Dd has one in her year at school.
Raina - I quite like this
Bea - love this but prefer as a NN for Beatrix or Beatrice.
Geneva - I really don't like this. I just think of the convention. And Jennie or Eva are really boring NNs.
I like Bea best from your list

starkid · 21/09/2019 09:21

I like Indigo and Raina out of those

Geneva1995 · 20/09/2019 21:51

@Frith2013 I’d be interested to hear names you do like.

CodenameVillanelle · 20/09/2019 19:54

Indigo - no
Renae - spell Renee
Oakley - not for a girl
Bessie - boring
Raina - Ok
Bea - ok if short for
Geneva - don't like it much

Frith2013 · 20/09/2019 19:48

My Mum’s name is Jean. Mine is equally shit. So obviously we don’t inflict our terrible names on the next generation.

Frith2013 · 20/09/2019 19:47

That Renee is a dreadful name?

Geneva1995 · 20/09/2019 19:04

@Frith2013 also I presume you mean Renée and Renato? If so, what is your point?

OP posts:
Geneva1995 · 20/09/2019 18:59

@frith2013 if you’d bothered to read my comment or see my user name you’d know Geneva is my name and also my mums name. So I wont bother googling that thank you though.

You might want to Google “Geneva Convention”

Frith2013 · 20/09/2019 18:19

*aunt

Frith2013 · 20/09/2019 18:17

Indigo - do you mean Inigo, which is actually a name?
Renae - and Renata
Oakley - sunglasses
Bessie - large, maiden ain’t
Raina - sunnier
Bea - short for?
Geneva - Swiss industrial town

BR540 · 20/09/2019 17:20

I like Bessie as a nickname.

Raina is lovely.

IckleBear · 20/09/2019 17:19

I like Indigo and Geneva

daisypond · 20/09/2019 08:38

I like Geneva best. It’s nice.

Geneva1995 · 20/09/2019 07:24

@user1493494961 thanks for the most unhelpful comment.

And thank you everyone else. I agree with longer name on birth certificate and then shorted to the nicknames we like :)
