Not sure I love my baby's name anymore

We called our baby Sebastian.

I felt a little rushed as after a week everyone was badgering us for a name. I really loved it at the time but as times gone on it feels really odd to say his name. Every time I say it it just doesn't feel right. It's too late to change it and he responds to his name.

Will he grow into his name?

Any positive comments on the name Sebastian to help me love it once again?

(Please don't make me sad with negative comments)

I'd have Sebastian on my list but mean DH vetoed it. It's lovely, classic. It. Not too popular.

I love the name!.

I have a nephew called Sebastian, we all call him Seb and his brother and sister call him Sebby which I think is so cute at that age!

Sebastian is a fine name!
However, I had the same feelings about my child's name. I changed it at age 2!
There was a lot of resistance from family but my child coped with it just fine! She now knows no difference and family now only think of her as her new name 😊

I had a massive teenage crush on a Sebastian. He started a band in the sixth form and had cheekbones and floppy blond hair 😍 Grin So it's a name which elicits nothing but nice thoughts for me! Also quite unusual these days but classic. I think he will enjoy his name x

He will 100% grow into his name. Seb or sebby are lovely nickname as and ‘baby Seb’ sounds super cute! Congratulations Grin

(Also, remember not everyone will like the name, it’s impossible to find one everyone likes, especially on here!)

I dobt particularly like the name but what does that matter? There probably isnt a single name out there that everyone likes, and thats what makes us different. All babies grow into their names in time. You'll live the name because you love the boy it belongs to

Especially if the strangers aren't allowed to say anything negative.

Op, you need to feel comfortable with his name and if not, it's ok to change it.

My 8 month old son is Sebastian.
It is so beautiful and everyone who stops to ask his name comments how wonderful it is.
I don't like Seb at all and am always clear stating that he is Sebastian, in full.
I have had nothing but admiration for his name.
You've made a good choice!

It is a beautiful and classic name with lots of nickname potential. One of my close friends is Sebastian so I'm a bit biased. Side note- I find it shocking how many flat out negative comments there are when you specified that you didn't want to hear them. 😐

I begged my husband to use the name Sebastian!!! I think it's gorgeous.

If you really don't like it, and there's something else that seems to make more sense, then change it.

However, if you can't think of anything else and are just not sure, I'd say just hang in there and it will make more sense. Try a nickname to soften it.

Personally I wouldnt change his name. If he wants to when he is older that is up to him but I think it would be confusing for him. I think it's a lovely name.

Some names need to be grown into I think! I love both my sons names.
Ds1’s ends in an ie/ey sound and saying it always felt quite lovely and appropriate for a baby but Ds2s name feels much more grown up so I usually end up shortening it or putting an ie sound on the end of it, so would be Sebbie to me. Obviously I won’t do that when he’s older but his name just seems too grown up for a baby to me! I like Sebastian, it’s a nice name.

I think Sebastian is a great name - known but not common, plenty of nickname potential.
Some names feel a bit 'big' on babies though - maybe a cute nickname while your son is tiny and he'll grow into Sebastian?

I felt weird calling my DD a name. Before she was born she was known as 'the baby' It felt very forced but it got easier.

It just did not suit him and I would have called him the baby until secondary school, but he soon grew into his name.
