What do you think? Albie would be full name rather than Albert which I'm not so keen on

Cute

AverageMummy · 14/09/2019 12:46

I think Alban is a lovely alternative to Albert

Sunshineys · 14/09/2019 12:31

Way too cutesy. Sounds like the name of a teddy bear or doll. Your son won't thank you when he's a teenager or grown man.

Albert of Albus are lovely names.

MissRabbitNeedsAHoliday · 14/09/2019 12:25

I know a 40 year old Albie so I don't find it cutsie. I like it and thought about it when I was pregnant but dp said no.

bbciii · 14/09/2019 12:24

No.

DramaAlpaca · 14/09/2019 12:23

Too cutesy. It's OK on a toddler, but Albert is much more dignified for an adult. At least think about putting it on the bc to give him the option.

Mysteriously · 14/09/2019 12:20

I am a bit worried about it being too cutesy but then names like that are quite popular at the moment so I don't think people will really question a man being called Albie. I do like Albus much more than Albert but I did immediately think Harry potter, which I like but would it be too close of a link?

Just really can't get on with the idea of calling babies, boys especially, names that end in ie. It's so twee and babyish. These babies will grow into men! Fine if they personally choose to have a casual nn ending ie but seriously, it's nice to have the option of a name with more gravitas. It's a no from me unless it's a nn.

Bobbiepin · 14/09/2019 12:04

As a teacher the only kids I've ever taught called Albie have been in their own class of shit. It's not a naughty kid name, it's an "excluded permanently by year 8" name. Its ruined for me.

MissHenty · 14/09/2019 12:04

Albie is a gorgeous name on its own
Go for it x

PancakeAndKeith · 14/09/2019 12:01

My friend’s first baby was Albie. Sadly born sleeping so the name has a special place in my heart.

NoSauce · 14/09/2019 11:59

I quite like Albert but dislike Albie not as much as Alfie but pretty close.

WeShouldOpenABar · 14/09/2019 11:52

Reminds me of Albie the racist dragon, but I like that

Oneforposy7 · 14/09/2019 11:51

I like it as a nickname but not a full name.

NorthEndGal · 14/09/2019 11:50

I'd end up saying Albion
Sorry

bridgetreilly · 14/09/2019 11:49

For some reason I find it quite hard to say.

What about Albus?
