We've found out we're expecting a third girl (!!) and we are really struggling for a name this time.

I like Constance but DH has vetoed. He wants Mary or Madeleine but I hate both.

Help us please!

Elizabeth, Catherine and Sophia were all Empresses of Russia too (well actually Sophia was ruler prior to there being an empire, but she did rule Russia in her own right).

Anna is the missing Russian Empress, which would go nicely too.

Has to be Charlotte.

Alexandra to complete the three, without a doubt.

Ginger1982 · 10/09/2019 23:01

I think it's inevitable that both names will be shortened in the future so I wouldn't hold fast against Victoria just because you don't like Vicky. Your daughter might but you could always call her by her full name.

Harriet

NameChange30 · 10/09/2019 22:56

We won't suggest Teresa then Grin

One of the reasons I love the name Elizabeth (apart from the association with Elizabeth Bennett) is all the options for shortening it.

minipie · 10/09/2019 22:54

Old English/medieval names

Elizabeth, Catherine and Alice
Elizabeth, Catherine and Cecily/Cicely
Elizabeth, Catherine and Elinor/Helena
Elizabeth, Catherine and Isolde
Elizabeth, Catherine and Marianne
Elizabeth, Catherine and Bryony
Elizabeth, Catherine and Isabel (although is Isabel another form of Elizabeth?)

Philippa also fits the theme :)

RandomMess · 10/09/2019 22:54

Amelia

knittedgoldfish · 10/09/2019 22:53

No Tories here thanks, hence also no Margaret!

Elizabeth is usually Lizzie but Catherine is never shortened. We'd prefer to not shorten any name we choose but Lizzie's (the oldest) got shortened at school, which we expected.

Quim Grin I'll use that the next time he pleads!

Alaxandra or Victoria, Cassandra at a push? Amelia would work too...Josephine? Juliette? Margaret nn Maggie? Rosalind? Roseline? Rosemary?

NameChange30 · 10/09/2019 22:47

FWIW I think Sophia is beautiful in its own right and it would go well with the other names.

I did know a Victoria who was called "Tori" and another called "Tor", but I personally wouldn't risk the association with the Tories Grin (depends on your politics I guess!)

raskolnikova · 10/09/2019 22:47

Is Philippa destined to be Pippa?

I'm a Philippa and I have never been Pippa. I am Pip or Phil though to various people.
