Views on Remi for a girl??

I have another DD with a slightly unusual / uncommon name which cannot be shorted. So far have been set on this! We even call her remi or when we speak about her we refer to her as Remi so tbh think its stuck on this one.

But i remember with my dd having a couple names picked out, and when I had her I completly went off them and ended up with something entirely different. So leaving that door slightly open Grin

I know a female Remi. She's in her 20s. And DP's male cousin is called Remi, he's roughly the same age. I quite like it and I don't think it's very 'out there' but then I'm so used to hearing it now.

sleepinginthecar · 14/09/2019 12:46

I love love love it. A friend of mine has a dd called Remi Valentine

Frith2013 · 14/09/2019 10:16

It’s a boy’s name and sounds like Rennies.

OneKeyAtATime · 14/09/2019 10:15

I thought it was a boy s name?

NameChange30 · 14/09/2019 10:05

It's a boy's name in France, where the name originates.
If you want to follow the American fashion for giving girls boy's names, crack on.
I would choose an actual girl's name though, personally.

IckleBear · 14/09/2019 09:59

Quite sweet

PleaseSirMyGoat · 14/09/2019 08:45

What's the problem with Romanian children being called it. PP makes it sound like a bad thing

Nothing as such, but just saying it's quite common here and that's because of the Romanians. If the OP lives in an area with diverse population then the name may be more common.

ourkidmolly · 14/09/2019 07:36

Remy is quite a common French name for boys. Remi sort of reminds me of Demi which was popular a while back. Quite a few Demi-Lees bouncing around up here who are 18ish now.

snowone · 14/09/2019 06:47

I know a little girl Remi - it's lovely Smile

happycamper11 · 14/09/2019 06:28

I like it, to me it sounds more of a girls name too. What's the problem with Romanian children being called it. PP makes it sound like a bad thing

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 14/09/2019 06:28

Is it not a boys name?

WipeYourFeetOnTheRhythmRug · 14/09/2019 06:24

Also an insult when I was at school. But times change I guess.

PleaseSirMyGoat · 14/09/2019 06:21

Hate it. Rem or Remi also an insult when I was at school, and that's the first thing I think when I hear it. Also lots a Romanian children around here with variations of the name.

ifigoup · 14/09/2019 06:08

When I was at school, “remi” was an insult, short for “remedial”. But as long as that isn’t used in your neck of the woods, you should be fine.

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 14/09/2019 05:22

I love it, I know a little boy Remy

flumpybear · 14/09/2019 05:15

I love it, it was on our list if we had another girl, we had a boy though, (not called Remi)

I was trying to link it to a longer name like Remington (but not that) but couldn't think of anything suitable ... but sounds like you just want it short and simple - go for it!

Confusednewmum1 · 14/09/2019 04:46

Absolutely love it!!! My husband wouldn’t go for it! I know a boy and a girl Remi. It suits both genders and is an amazing name!! I wish I could have gotten away with it but DH is very traditional. A little girl called Remi is just beautiful xxxx

maym · 11/09/2019 13:28

@purplepolo I love Remi for a little girl it's also on my list!!

percheron67 · 11/09/2019 10:02

?Remy Martin? Try Armagnac, Courvoisier?

Jossina · 11/09/2019 09:56

Sounds too cutsey to me.

DramaAlpaca · 11/09/2019 01:26

It's quite sweet.

Shadow1234 · 11/09/2019 01:24

Love it.

Saltnpepperr · 10/09/2019 22:52

Love it. Always loved it for a girl more than a boy

Mummymummums · 10/09/2019 22:52

I too know a male Remi

AutumnCrow · 10/09/2019 22:32

I really like it, whether Remy or Remi.
