Got a feeling this might divide mumsnet! Grin My husband suggested it. I like it but it's unusual and wonder what people think of it?

Lovely and sophisticated x

WelshCountryBumpkin · 09/09/2019 16:39

I love it, but having a more unusual name myself I have a soft spot for them! I also love the name Allegria which means Happiness

Orangeleavez · 09/09/2019 16:36

Lavenderblues so true! I know my taste in names will horrify some and others will love it.
Unless you play it really safe and even then everyone has an opinion x

Lavenderblues · 09/09/2019 16:14

So I knew it would divide MN! Its one of those marmite names I guess.

Every single name is loved by some and disliked by others- thankfully we all have different tastes!

Orangeleavez · 09/09/2019 16:12

I don't know the Austin Allegra association but will have a Google. I suppose I have no association for the name hence why I like it.

It was Austin Allegro.

Allegra's a perfectly nice name for a girl. A bit classy.

Rayna37 · 09/09/2019 16:10

I love it and had it pencilled in for a middle name; wouldn't have wanted it to be shortened to Ally which I felt was a risk. Also possibly a bit marmite.

msmith501 · 09/09/2019 16:10

My parents used to drive a Vauxhall Allegra... piece of crap - it's a nice name though! Wenknkw a Greek woman called Allegrina ... also a nice name

dootball · 09/09/2019 16:07

I'd go for algebra!

ViserionTheDragon · 09/09/2019 16:05

It's an Italian name and a lovely one at that. I don't think it's horsey at all!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 09/09/2019 16:03

What does horsey mean

Shopkinsdoll · 09/09/2019 16:02

Oh no! Please don’t. They was my sisters first car. A rusty old Allegra

AverageMummy · 09/09/2019 15:58

I think it’s ok

Keepaddingpets · 09/09/2019 15:56

Am I the only person who remembers the hideous car Austin Allegra?

feellikeanalien · 09/09/2019 15:53

DD has an Allegra at her primary school. Family aren't really posh but are a bit horsey.

I'm showing my age now but when I first heard the name I thought of the car. Now I actually quite like it.

DramaAlpaca · 09/09/2019 15:46

No, it's too hard for me.

simonisnotme · 09/09/2019 15:45

sounds like an old rover car the allegro sorry

MrsPellegrinoPetrichor · 09/09/2019 15:43

No,it's horsey and sounds like a Jilly Cooper character.

Moominfan · 09/09/2019 15:41

I like it but I swear it's the name of a pizza or something similar sounding

Icantthinkofanynewnames · 09/09/2019 15:36

I worked in Italy and had a couple of lovely students called Allegra so I love it! I think Ally is a cute nickname too.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 09/09/2019 15:31

It’s beyond dreadful. It’s loved on here though. I don’t get the hype and appeal whatsoever.

PleaseGoogleIt · 09/09/2019 15:30

I love it, would have called DD it if DH had let me have my way

SouthwarkSkaters · 09/09/2019 15:29

Nope, definitely Allegra, but Google tells me the UK brand name is Telfast, so should be ok on that front.
