Douglas (Dougie) or Kip?

As the title says...

Douglas (Dougie) or Kip

Surname 2 syllables and quite unusual.

Interested to know what others think of these names for baby. Due in a few weeks and don’t know whether boy or girl, but keep coming back to these two.

Grateful for opinions!

Kip if short for Christopher. Otherwise Douglas.

Kip is my dogs name and he is and extremely handsome gentleman so you can't go wrong with that in my eyes!!

I like both but Kip is my favourite. I know a young Kip and his sisters have quite traditional names like Mary and Lucy. Kip would also work as a nn for Christopher or Caspar/Kaspar, but I do really like it just as is. I've come across Kip in names of WW1 era men - possibly as a nickname.

Love Douglas. It was our second on our boys list with Dougie as a nickname. I know a Kip too. I like it but not nearly as much as Douglas.

I have a 3yo Douglas. He goes by Douglas, Dougie and Doug. We love the name and reactions have been wholly positive (but it’s not like people who hate it would tell us!)

When they start school and you have to read endless Biff, Chip and Kipper books you will be grateful you didn't go with Kip.

Love Douglas, also Dougal. Dougie lovely for a child or an adult, Doug too. I know several of varying ages, super name.
