Just that really.
Which would you choose?
Thanks

I like both. Probably prefer Autumn- I just think it’s connotations and the sound of the word are gorgeous. Obviously Imogen is more commonplace so I guess it depends if you’d prefer to play it safe or go for something more unusual?

Iliada I love your posts! Thank you :) thank you for the feedback.

I love Autumn Aurelia is a fab suggestion. Adding it to my list. Grin

Oh, and if Autumn is born in spring it doesn’t matter! Just do what Snow White’s parents did in the story about the blood and the snow and tell her that when you were pregnant with her and you were waiting for her, you saw so many beautiful autumn leaves and trees that you knew she would be gorgeous, brilliant and strong, just like them.

Problem solved!

Iliada · 16/09/2019 20:16

I just wanted to add that Autumn Sienna from your list just now is lovely, too. There’s that warm, golden red seasonal feeling to that name as well.

Iliada · 16/09/2019 20:13

I think Autumn is a great name and went to school with one - she’d be late thirties now so it’s been around for a while.

The name always gave me a picture of beautiful golden and red leaves, so if I were to use it I’d probably go for something like:
Autumn Aurelia
Autumn Scarlett
Autumn Blaise
Autumn Amber.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 16/09/2019 19:46

I love Imogen and only know of two - one mid thirties and one early twenties. I think it has a lovely, soft yet strong sound - sorry, nothing like a toilet roll.

Imogen definitely xx

finallychangedmyusername · 16/09/2019 19:31

Autumn Charlotte is lovely. Also, it'd be long but Autumn Charlotte Imogen last-name would be beautiful (if you're determined to include Imogen, which I really like too).

icecreamsundae32 · 16/09/2019 18:22

I think Autumn Charlotte sounds fine or Autumn Elizabeth/Autumn Olivia sound good. I think you are right that Autumn Imogen doesn't really flow though.

MissHenty thanks for the link! :)

Thanks everyone for your posts!
I thought Imogen would be far more popular due to it being a bit more mainstream so I am pleasantly surprised to see it really is 50/50.

Currently we are leaning towards Autumn as I like the slightly more unusual factor.

I'm not sure if Autumn Imogen works as a first and second name. Bit of a mouthful! And it doesn't seem any names we like work with Autumn.

For example:

  • Autumn Charlotte (DH fav name is Charlotte/my first name)
  • Autumn Faith
  • Autumn Sienna
  • Autumn Imogen

Feel like it's impossible.

Any thoughts? x

Depends if you want an option to shorten the name. Immy/Imi works. Aut doesn't.

Atlasta · 16/09/2019 17:12

Love both
Imogen Autumn would be fab.
Of the two I think if I had to choose the one though it would be Imogen.

laughingnow · 16/09/2019 17:03

Imogen

notso · 16/09/2019 16:57

Imogen.
Autumn seems a bit Instagram for me.

MissHenty · 16/09/2019 16:55

What are you thinking now @Newday1 ? Which name?

Jackiesathome · 16/09/2019 16:54

Personally, I prefer Imogen. But i think it is whatever you prefer really!

thisisthetime · 16/09/2019 15:25

Imogen! Dd is Imogen and is the only one in her school. As a teacher I’ve only ever taught 1 Imogen in 10 years so in don’t think it’s that popular depending on where you live.

MissHenty · 16/09/2019 11:50

@Newday1 imogen has actually been declining in popularity since 2010 when it reached it peak

Whilst a couple of years ago I can see there may have been more than 1 imogen in a class, that’s statistically very unlikely now @thunderthighsohwoe

In fact imogen looks set to leave the top 50 names soon

Look at the graph showing the Uk statistics if you want proof

Anerak · 16/09/2019 07:05

I like both very much.
My DB had a classmate in the early '90s called Autumn and she was the most beautiful girl I'd ever seen

sanityisamyth · 16/09/2019 07:02

When is baby due? A February baby called autumn seems odd. Not keen on Imogen really.

Thatnovembernight · 16/09/2019 06:53

Imogen is one of my favourite girls names. Autumn is pretty but I wouldn’t like to introduce myself as that though it would be fine as a second name.

firstimemamma · 16/09/2019 06:48

I really like both!

Gatepost1820 · 16/09/2019 06:34

Autumn Charlotte plus your surname. That works well, this way you're honoured as her birth mother. Plus you get the first name that you like.

thunderthighsohwoe · 08/09/2019 18:42

There will be approximately three Imogens in your child’s class at school (I’m teacher and drowning in Isabellas, Evies, Darcys, Islas and Tillys).

However I would also be careful about Autumn dating quickly.

Tricky choice.
