He'd be a brother for Dexter. What do you think? DP and I love this name, with Bo as a nn.

Interested to hear the general consensus!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Interesting that some people take offence to the Buddhist connection. Must admit that on my feeble googling, when I first thought of the name, the Buddhist thing didn't come up, just that it was a Sanskrit name.

It wouldn't put me off using the name, rightly or wrongly. I agree with a PP who said that people use all sorts of 'religious' names for their kids and have no connection with the religion themselves.

How is Boaz pronounced @SleepWarrior?

Also surprised people are saying it's really popular where they are! I haven't met one Bodhi at any of the squillions of playgroups I've gone to with DS. Maybe it's just not popular in my part of SE London. Anyway I'm not that bothered about it being unusual or whatever, my name is vvv unusual and I've still met 2 other people with it. There's always gunna be another Bodhi!

I like it but it far too used where I am. I think it's because they did a (crap) remake of the film where it originated from and became cool in the 90's...point break.

TheVanguardSix · 02/09/2019 08:42

I’d assume you’re Buddhist or a very spiritual, enlightened family.
Bodhi and Dexter do not go at all together.

Brodie?
Beau?
Or just Bo on its own.
I know a lovely little boy named Beau.
Beau and Dexter is very cool.

AverageMummy · 02/09/2019 08:40

Love Rafael & Ellis

user1493494961 · 02/09/2019 08:36

I prefer Rafael.

SleepWarrior · 02/09/2019 05:37

I know a Boaz who goes by Bo, would that work?

Rafael is my favorite from your list though.

mathanxiety · 02/09/2019 05:04

It's very popular in UMC America. Oodles of twenty something and under surfer dudes and snowboarders and skateboarders are called Bodhi.

Pronounced Beau-dee. Nothing like 'body'.

Would you consider:
Elliott
Marshall
Rieffe
Fintan

WildCherryBlossom · 02/09/2019 04:10

There is a brand of microfibre towels called The Little Bodhi.

blubelle7 · 01/09/2019 23:43

I like it..cute Bodhi and Dexter, Bo and Dexter. Nice

just make sure your DS never travels to my home country where his name would mean bra.

BizzzzyBee · 01/09/2019 23:24

I’d pronounce it more like Body. It definitely isn’t pronounced Bow-Dee! Seems an odd choice if you have no Buddhist connection and don’t speak Sanskrit etc.

Morado · 01/09/2019 23:19

Bodhi has been on the rise quickly for the last few years. Don't ditch the spelling. People don't assume every girl names Zara has an Arabic connection... Most people won't know its a buddisht name anyway so I wouldn't worry about that!

Morado · 01/09/2019 23:14

I know a few baby Bodhi's. I love it 😁

Fstar · 01/09/2019 23:13

Love it, was patrick swazyes character in point break and means awakened or enlightened

Lilsquish · 01/09/2019 23:10

I like it and it goes well with Dexter.
Go for it! :-)

MarcieElizabeth · 01/09/2019 23:10

I really like it

Blueuggboots · 01/09/2019 23:10

Why not spell it Bodie? Gets rid of the Buddhist connection but still sounds the same..

WinterHare · 01/09/2019 23:08

@LaMarschallin Grin

It's a terrible name. Not very Professional.

chesci · 01/09/2019 23:02

California is full of them. It's a very surfer/skier name. It's also a lifetime of spelling it.

namechangedforthis1980 · 01/09/2019 23:00

Cool name, sounds like he should be a surfer dude!

Yeahsurewhatever · 01/09/2019 23:00

TildaTurnip · 01/09/2019 22:55

I love it.

Also love Rafael.

NoNoNoOohmaybe · 01/09/2019 22:51

I really dislike it, can't say why but it looks really try hard to me.

Love dexter tho, so you have good taste!

onemorecakeplease · 01/09/2019 22:51

How about Brodie? I think that's also cute and less religious connotations.
